One concern I have with my plan to test out of most of my BA is that I will not get practice writing papers. Can anyone offer suggestions that will help me develope the skills I need to write a decent paper when I do take courses?
My ultimate goal is to get a Master's from a brick and mortar, so I want to make sure I am prepared.
I saw something on Excelsior's website "My Access". There is a small cost of $30 for a 9 month subscription. Has anyone used that?

[COLOR="Navy"]In order to satisfy the WER at EC I took the basic English Compostion course from LSU. Granted I was able write already, however this course will give you the opportunity to write and be given constructive feedback on how to improve. Good Luck!

I've been thinking about this, too. Even though I have been a writer by trade for, oh, (mumble mumble) [SIZE="1"]17 years[/SIZE], and I have no difficulty writing, I feel I need practice in writing academic papers. I've written everything BUT that and academic style is very different from what I do. I'd hate to get to graduate school (where I'll need to write APA style) and have this slow me down. I'm curious to see what other people say.
One thing I considered was taking EC's graduate research writing course...that's the 3 credit one. But, at $900, I just don't know. Currently, I'm going with the 1 credit research & writing version--maybe that will be enough--but I might change my mind. I took English Comp a couple of decades ago and don't really want to do that again.
I DID buy the $55
A Writer's Reference by Diane Hacker and plan to review that to get up to speed on citation style. You might want to check that out, too, if you don't have it already.

I think taking English Comp online from COSC and reading a couple of good (writing) books will help, but it wont replace 4 years of writing experience and feedback from Professors.

From everything you have written thus far, I don't think you have a competency problem with writing. You seem articulate and your grammar is very good. In the REAL world of business, most people do NOT write very well...you would be surprised...

Thank you for your kind words. It's just fear of the unknown because I've never written a paper before. In fact, this whole thing has me feeling a bit out of my element, that's why I really appreciate this place.
