Which school would be best?

Hello all.

I have a few questions regarding degrees with both TESC and EC. Can you do a dual major with both of these colleges? Such as a degree in finance and a degree in international business or accounting? If I got one degree is it possible to go back and get a second? Is it possible to test out with either college regarding a business degree?

Which school awards more credits for veterans? It seems EC is friendlier to vets as there tuition is cheaper for us. Am I right? Unfortunately My GI Bill is no longer accessible as I have been out of the service for quite some time. Which has always been a bone of contention as I paid into it and now they wont let me get it out. Any other options for vets?

Also, I am a New York resident even though I am not in the country at the moment. Would EC be a better choice? Even though, TESC is not that far from where I reside in New York, I am not a Jersey resident.

I've narrowed down the degrees I would like to pursue from both TESC and EC.
From TESC:
BSBA Finance
BSBA International Business

From EC:
BSB Accounting NY option
BSB Global Business
BSB Finance

Which do you feel offer the better degree for these options.

I am in IT right now and no longer have any passion for it. So the need for a degree is most warrented. And I want to get into the finance sector.

Also, what kind of credits to you get from "A" school and "C" school from the Navy. I studied aviation electrical systems (AE)

I have heaps more questions but they have escaped me at the moment.

I'd double major in accounting and finance at TESC if I were you since you can still test out of the business capstone course whereas you can't at EC and there is no Info Literacy requirement at TESC. EC is private so you don't get in-state tuition although they have partnership agreements with a few organizations that will lower tuition if you take a certain number of credits with them (not recommended since their tuition can be beat elsewhere). I think you also get a discount on some fees at EC since you are a veteran. TESC also seems a bit more flexible on electives within the major/area of study and is a bit better on testing out.

You can test out of a General Management BSBA at TESC, but it's not possible to test out of an EC business degree. It's not possible to test out of accounting or finance entirely, although TESC does have an Income Tax exam and I think they still have a Security Analysis exam (but check on that).


"Finance" is a very broad term- what specifically do you have in mind career-wise?

Having one myself, I've tried to go back and pursue another in accounting and was eventually told that I could obtain another BS or BA degree but it had to be in a different subject area. I do have the option of obtaining a BS in accounting from Excelsior on top of my current degree, but am still unsure of that path.

What TESC will let you do is take two concentrations within one degree, provided they are met at the same time. So he could go to TESC and major in Business Administration and take enough electives to fill both the accounting and finance requirements. He would then get a BSBA that would have the two areas of study listed on the transcript. They will not allow you to go back once complete though and add that second area of study. At that point you would probably be better off anyway at looking at grad schools that offer certificate programs.
