Which of the Big 3 schools is best for me?
#1
Ok so I have been going to a University and Junior College for quite a while now but It's become to costly and I am was researching the fastest and cheapest way to complete my degree.. I would like to earn a Bachelors in Business or Business Administration but any Bachelors would be fine too. I am wanting to pursue teaching but it seems the ticket is this Bachelors Degree I still do not have. I have so many credits and I am hoping someone can tell me which of the Big 3 is my best bet to finish up at.. Also since I have so many credits can I transfer them all or will I be forced to test out to finish this up.. I'd love to find a way to just transfer everything over and take the capstone or cornerstone requirement. Below I have listed which classes I have completed..

I'm willing to help you figure out how this will fit into TESU's plan, but you're going to have to fix this first. It looks like there are a lot of duplicate courses on here, making me think that you copied and pasted the transcripts from your 4-year university on here and it included the courses brought over from the 2-yr college, and then you also copied in the courses from the 2-yr college. But I could be wrong.

Anyway, you need to go through and fix the original post, and only include each course you took once, from the original source. So all the courses you took AT the 2-yr college(s), then all the courses AT the 4-yr college(s), school-by-school. You also need to tell me if these were all semester courses (rather than quarter). If it's not clear from the course number, make sure to mark which courses were UL at the 4-yr schools.

Regarding the having to test out of some courses, it's almost a 100% guarantee that you won't have taken all of the requirements at any school to fulfill the degree entirely, and there will be some courses you still need to take. Most from the BSBA will have multiple inexpensive options to be able to take everything.

83 hours of ACE-worthy credits

It's easy to go from SH to qtr Hours (you still lose credits). Colleges hose you going the other way. A TESC/TESU student in my office a few years ago was hosed. They would not grant him a complete course in many of his classes. He was like you as he had tons of qtr credits.
Non-Traditional Undergraduate College Credits (634 SH): *FTCC Noncourse Credits (156 SH) *DSST (78 SH) *CPL (64 SH) *JST Military/ACE (48 SH) *CBA (44 SH) *CLEP (42 SH) *FEMA IS (40 SH) *FEMA EM (38 SH) *ECE/UExcel (30 SH) *PLA Portfolio (28 SH) *EMI/ACE (19 SH) *TEEX/ACE (16 SH) *CWE (11 SH) *NFA/ACE (10 SH) *Kaplan/ACE (3 SH) *CPC (2 SH) *AICP/ACE (2 SH) *Sophia/ACE (2 SH) and *FRTI-UM/ACE (1 SH).

I created a spreadsheet for you for the TESU BSBA in General Management. Many of your credits will not transfer for different reasons:

1) There isn't any place for them to go (your Gen Ed electives are filled with as much as will fit, and there is no space for so many of these credits because the degree doesn't leave a lot of space for non-core and specific requirement courses

2) Your grades were not good enough - anything that you want to put in the Core/Area of Study or English I & II have to be a C or better (not even a C- will transfer). This is the case for Managerial Accounting, Business Law & Principles of Management.

To complete your Gen Ed's, you will need to take:
English Comp II
An Info Lit course (World Religions, A&I Lit CLEP, or Tech Writing) - although they may accept Report Writing in this spot, I'm not certain
An Ethics course (there's a free one: Preserve the trust on which insurance transactions are based with an understanding of ethics)
A Civic Engagement course (Am Govt or Intro to Comparative Politics)
And 3 math courses (College Algebra, Statistics, and at least 1 additional course)

Then for your Core/AOS, you need to take:
Managerial Accounting
Business Law
Principles of Finance
Principles of Management
Principles of Marketing
Macroeconomics
Microeconomics
Business Comm
The Strategic Management course/exam from TESU (can't transfer this)
and an additional 18cr in Business, 12cr of which must be UL, and must cover at least 3 of the 4 areas (MAR, MAN, ACC, or FIN). If a course is not obviously FIN, ACC or MAR, then it's MAN.

I'm not certain if they will bring any of your other business courses in (Report Writing, Spreadsheets, Quickbooks, etc.). They would probably only be free electives, of which you have enough.

The only thing I question is Conflict Management, which they might let in, but unfortunately it's only 2cr, so it's not very helpful.

I'm also not certain what will happen with all of the quarter units - if they will give you waivers on everything (English Comp I, Public Speaking, International Business) or not. That might be a problem, as if they don't, there's additional courses you will have to take.

Now, I'm not TESU, and with some of this I'm making educated guesses, but I'm fairly certain that this is how it will play out for you.

You may want to look at COSC and EC as well, and see if they have some flexibility in their programs that TESU doesn't (their BSBA is not flexible). There just isn't a lot of room for someone who has a lot of credits that aren't typical, and are non-business related.

Ok so the micro and macro have C's not c minuses so they should count correct? Also I read on another thread on this forum Thomas Edison takes D's and has a genourous transfer policy is this not true? I am willing to go to other schools besides Thomas Edison but I would like a specific degree not liberal studies if I can avoid it. I do not mind putting in the work to complete it even this business degree plan does not look that bad to complete. I would like to be done as quickly as possible though so I am thinking human resources may be quicker? Liberal studies isn't completely out the window as an option I just really would like more specific so I can get a single teaching credential if I wanted one.

I missed the Micro and Macro courses, so yes, those will work.

TESU will take D's, but not in the Core or AOS, or for English I & II. Those courses specifically have to have a C or better. They will take D's in Gen Ed (except English) and Free Electives.

Human Resources will not be quicker, as you haven't taken any HR courses to put in the AOS. It's easy enough to switch to that if you want, but it won't be quicker (or cheaper, since one of the required courses has to be taken as a CSU-Global CBE). The only thing HR will do is switch out the 6 courses in the AOS for some different courses, not significantly change the degree. I personally am working on the HR degree, but I already had 3 HR courses to put in there before I moved to TESU - and then easily got the other 3 done.

I don't think a BSBA will make it easier to get your teaching credential at all - I think Liberal Studies is actually a better fit there. But I could be wrong. TESU's BALS is extremely flexible, and it has the advantage over COSC and EC in only needing 18cr of UL, rather than 30. I think the price will be similar at all 3 schools for the BALS.

Regarding speed, I think the thing that makes things go more quickly is if you actually like and have an interest in the courses you need to take for the degree. Slogging through a bunch of courses you don't like would, in my mind, make things go much slower. Trust me, I'm down to the last 4 courses, and I have absolutely ZERO interest in 3 of those, so I can procrastinate like a pro. If I didn't mind or actually liked the courses, it would certainly be a lot easier to get to them.

I revised the BSBA spreadsheet and included those 2 courses. And then, I created another page for the BALS. You are much closer to the BALS than the BSBA - 87cr used instead of only 61. You're left with only 11 courses to complete, rather than 20. And, the price to complete it is very similar.

I would apply to TESU and see where they bring in your credits. I'm a little lost on a few, but I think I'm pretty close. Then, apply to COSC and EC and see what they say. And, if you're interested in EC, you need to get partner pricing through POAG (I think KayV has info on that). It will save you a lot of money, so do that before applying.

Ok Thank you. I just called Thomas Edison to ask about how my quarter units would be treated in the core areas. They told me they would just be brought in and fulfill that course even though they are just quarter units. Also they told me if i have any D's in courses they will be counted and brought in as well they just cannot be used in english composition or your area study which are the roman numeral III and above, But they can be used in Roman numeral II requirements such as in the professional business requirements. That would mean my business law, managerial accounting, and principles of management would count.
