What this means to California schools: The California Learning Resource Network reviews e-textbooks to ensure that they meet state educational standards. The e-textbooks are available for free online, which could save schools a ton of money (not to mention a ton of weight in student backpacks!).
What this means to independent learners: Free, high-quality e-textbooks!
Here's the list of titles which have been reviewed: Free Digital Textbook Initiative
The available texts cover mathematics (intermediate algebra, calculus, geometry, and trigonometry) and science (biology, chemistry, and physics - the earth sciences books don't score well on the evaluations).
