Seems as if the Big Three have made it harder and harder( or should I say more expensive ) to fully test out of a degree. Which degrees can still be tested out of?
Which degrees from The Big Three can you still fully test out of?

It depends on whether you insist on "fully".
The capstone courses are certainly becoming ubiquitous. TESU is finally eliminating the TECEP for the BSBA capstone, which was one of the last bachelor's you could get without any courses at all. However, I would say that we have MORE testing/alternative credit choices than we used to, making more degrees easier/cheaper to get than ever.

Not much has changed in the last year, except that I would say that it's actually EASIER to test out of a degree than it was previously, if you look at the number of course providers, and number of courses they offer.
Considering that they will all have capstones that cannot be tested out of soon (TESU's BSBA TECEP is going away), NONE of the schools will have degrees that can be 100% tested out of. But they all still have degrees that are able to be tested out of besides the capstone. Multiple degrees at all of the Big 3.

Some associates degrees. I think there are a couple from TESU with no capstone that have exam options. And the BOG AAS.

I dont know, last year TESU started their residency requirement forcing students to pay even more fees, i didnt even know about them getting rid of the TECEP for the BSBA! When does that go into affect? I just feel like as far as costs go the big three are making it more expensive.
Maybe it is getting more expensive but hands down, this is still a lot cheaper and faster than any option I've found. I don't know of too many schools that will let you transfer in everything except the capstone course. Most schools have a 30 hour requirement. Imagine having to spend 30 hours of tuition at TESU to graduate. And then there is the time - 12 week courses, limited to just a few courses each semester, textbooks etc. Even with having to pay the capstone and residency waiver fees it is still thousands less than what I would pay at any RA school around me.
I just did a little bit of quick math and I took 42 credits and only paid 8.47 per credit hour after the free courses, the Guardian scholarship and cramming everything else into one month of shmoop and one month of study.com The last 3 hours - (my capstone course) costs $1422 tuition plus $1800 residency waiver + the $300 something dollars for graduation fee + the $30 I spent on the textbook. So TESU is getting about $3500. All in, I'm only spending around $87/credit hour. That is far less than any college in my area.

Before they had the Residency Waiver fee, they had nothing for a couple of years, but before that, it was more expensive to enroll at TESU than it is now. I consider these last couple of years a fluke, really. If you ask anyone before the 2014 catalog, it was closer to $3000 to enroll at TESU. Still a better deal than most schools though.

When does that go into affect? Soon. The June exam is the last one and enrollment ends May 20th. There is a late enrollment period for 5 days too, but the application has to processed before a person can enroll, which can take days. |
