Planning to take Business Law II DSST exam
#1
Hello all,
Thanks to this site I have passed 2 DSST exams. Now I am planning on taking one of the hardest exams out there and I need some help! I will be taking the exam without business experience and I have not taken the Intro to Bus Law either. Also, I will not be able to use the Barron's Law book because they do not have it at the library that I can use.
What would you all suggest if I cannot use the Barron's Law Book and still pass this test? I am looking to hear back from someone....anyone as I would really like to pass this and get it out of the way. It is a beast I know but I am willing to work to get it completed.

Thanks all!

Hi there..

First of all, you don't need to have taken BL I to take and pass BL II. Yes there may be a little overlap, but I can't imagine it would be much. You can check out the info at FCP: Business Law II DSST Study Guide - Free-Clep-Prep.com and you will see some no-cost study resources there.

The main piece of advice I can give you is to print up the DSST official study guide and learn everything on it. Don't waste time on other topics. If it doesn't fall under the DSST list, it is not likely to be on the test.

Here's a video from YouTube that very easily explains a key concept for the test: The Holder in Due Course Blues - YouTube You'll want to watch it and then look at all of the other videos by the same person. He has quite a few good ones.

A couple of other comments... Keep in mind that you will be paying around $100 bucks for the test, but you'll be saving HUNDREDS more by testing out of the topic, not to mention weeks of sitting through BL II classes with homework, exams, etc... If you try to skimp on study material, it will end up costing you more in the long run.
Amazon.com: Business Law (Barron's Business Review Series) (9780764142406): Robert W. Emerson J.D.: Books You can get the Barron's book for under 12 bucks plus S&H. The little green REA book can be found starting at .25 cents used: Amazon.com: Business Law II Essentials (Essentials Study Guides) (9780878917297): William D. Keller Ed.D.: Books

Do you have ANY experience whatsoever with contracts, legal language, or Biz Law in general? If not, you'll really want to prepare and this will be more difficult, but it's not impossible with enough study and the right resources.

I'm not saying that this test can't be passed using just the specific feedback forum + free resources, but why risk it? If you already know that this test is a beast, arm yourself with every available resource... it will only cost you a few bucks more to get the books that everyone is recommending.

The Barron's book is VERY useful. I was able to use an older version and some 'net searches to study.

Here are some links I thought useful. Note: it's been a while since I've visited these, so I don't know what their state is.
