This is very true when it comes to MBAs. While many MBA programs will accept students without business degrees, often times they have to take prereq courses before they can even start the MBA courses. And you pay that school's tuition & fees on those prereq courses. I saw this over and over when I was looking at MBA programs. Completing my second bachelor's degree got me waived from 4 prereq courses in my current MBA program.

Not to mention that "life happens" and if they never get around to the MBA, they might really be glad they have a business degree.

I will be - since I'm definitely in the business world.

So, given that, I'll definitely go with the Business degree.  Can anyone recommend which area of study would make the most sense?  CIS was mentioned above - and I'm going to guess there's a decent overlap between BSBA CIS and BS CS (which is why they have been discussed together?). Does CIS makes the most sense?

If you get the BA CS, the BSBA CIS makes the most sense to get at the same time. It's only a handful of extra courses to get both.

If you get the BA CS, graduate, then come back for a BSBA, Marketing would probably make the most sense.

BSBA will be my primary goal. The optional would be the CS, and I would prefer to do it all at once.

I am also OK with a BSBA Marketing - and only that. But due to the CS credits that I already have, I wonder if it would take that much more time to do BSBA CIS + BS CS compared to ONLY the BSBA Marketing.  Thoughts?  Would BSBA Marketing ONLY save me a significant amount of time compared to the other combo?

Basically, my recommendation boils down to this: If you want something quickly and can't wait for the BACS, I would recommend doing the BSBA CIS & Marketing combo, have something completed before moving forward with your second degree. You can get the BACS with the cost of just another grad fee and capstone (going the 16 credit residency requirement instead of paying the residency waiver fee).

However, if you have the energy, money, time to complete the BSBA and BACS at the same time, then that will save you a grad fee but you will lose a bit more neurons trying to do two capstones... I suggest doing 16-18 residency credits in two terms, completing the two capstones last. It really depends on how you slice the credits and number of hours you will spend on each course...

Alright, I agree with this.  I'll do BSBA CIS & Marketing (that's one degree with two concentrations?). At that point I can decide if I want to go for CS or just roll into MBA (which is more likely).

So, if this is my final decision - what would you recommend that I take right now while waiting for transcripts, etc?  I am halfway through Sophia Sociology 101 and am looking for the next class to start there.

I would take Ancient Greek Philosophers, followed by Intro to Ethics. You don't have to 100% finish Greek Philosophers & submit the paper, but it should still be taken before Ethics.

I think dfrecore gave you good advice (overall) here: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid375834) but specifically on the TECEP 'instead of the 1cr TECEP you were going to register for, do the COM-209: Public Speaking TECEP or the ENG-202: Technical Communication TECEP.  Oral Communications requirement, done.' as you will need to meet this requirement no matter degree you end up choosing.  And again - keep your eye on the prize, what is the end goal (I'm not against the BSBA as you can see in my signature), but you may find you're much closer to something else once your evaluations are done; which will likely take 3 weeks to be completed (which is why it is important to get those transcripts over ASAP and pick/register for a TECEP).  Out of curiosity which degree did you choose when you applied?

The transcripts are on their way already (they have downloaded 3 of them), and it's going to be fun waiting three weeks for that to finish  Big Grin  I'll just knock off some known holes (Soc and ethics) in that time and get that TECEP done.

I think I applied to BALS because at the time that seemed like the fastest route to the degree. I'm waiting for the admission decision now.

I just need to add that you all are so fantastic. Truly, I appreciate this more than you know! At one point I had just given up on getting a degree, and that was so disheartening since I've spent SO much time in college. It's great to see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

I'm VERY happy I completed the business degree. If something happens, I have that.
