Hello,
I just finished my first course on Sophia. I took Art History 1 and passed with a 95! This is the first college class I have completed since 1997, so there is a bit of excitement going on right now.
Anyway,
I am trying to get the rest of my missing core classes for the BAAS OL Degree at TAMUC. After reviewing the wiki on here click for wiki , I believe I need the following classes and could use these from Sophia:
English Comp 2
College Algebra
US Hist 1
US Hist 2
visual communications
(need 2 science classes below)
Chemistry
Environmental Science
Biology
The big question is, what classes should I take next?
What classes are set up like art history 1 and do not have any writing or essay required, no touchstones?
Completed:
TAMUC BAAS Org Leadership
SJC AAS Automotive Technology

You need to take English Comp 2 first since it has the most touchstones. Otherwise, you'll be waiting for touchstones to be graded at the end.
So my order would be:
English Comp 2 (you'll be waiting a lot for each part)
visual communications
Environmental Science
Biology
US Hist 1 (ask for 3rd class to be opened through customer support once you submit paper)
US Hist 2 (ask for 3rd class to be opened through customer support once you submit paper)
College Algebra
Degrees: BA Computer Science, BS Business Administration with a concentration in CIS, AS Natural Science & Math, TESU. 4.0 GPA 2022.
Course Experience: CLEP, Instantcert, Sophia.org, Study.com, Straighterline.com, Onlinedegree.org, Saylor.org, Csmlearn.com, and TEL Learning.
Certifications: W3Schools PHP, Google IT Support, Google Digital Marketing, Google Project Management

That's what I would do as well, have a course with touchstones, and have a course that doesn't. Then keep at the quizzes/touchstones until they're done, you can have two classes open at a time, if you have both courses that also have touchstones, you can ask for a third course to be open that doesn't have any touchstones so you don't have to wait for grading.

Thanks for the info,
I just finished Visual Communications, I liked it a lot more than Art Hist 1. I already opened Environmental Science, and started it last night.
After reading some of the comments on this forum about the grading differences between evaluators in Eng Comp 2 on Sophia, I think I will take it at TAMUC or even take it at the local community college.
My focus will be the other classes I have listed for Sophia.

My focus will be the other classes I have listed for Sophia. How do you find out what Sophia.org classes TAMUC will accept? I am new, just learned about the TAB program and applied at TAMUC today. Is there an advantage (besides cost) to taking classes through Sophia vs TAMUC? My employer reimburses for Tamuc but not Sophia - although the cost isn’t significant.

HoustonGuy, Welcome to the board, I have a friend who moved to Houston to do his residency and now he's a physician there... Anyways, Sophia.org is easier/faster to complete as it uses Biometric/IP logging instead of webcam proctoring, you can also have the content open for quizzes, review of PDFs, milestones, touchstones, etc. It's a much better system to use than taking courses at TAMUC, you should only take the required courses only that can't be transferred in. Sophia is way faster/easier to complete than TAMUC classes. From what others have said, TAMUC artificially slows down student progress somewhat. If you only have 10-12 classes at TAMUC, it's not that bad. But I can see it getting frustrating over the course of a whole degree.
Other students are also how we know what works for TAMUC students. They transfer things in, then report back here what works/doesn't work and where. So we have a pretty good idea about how Sophia and TAMUC work together at this point.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

I'm happy to share my transcript of what was accepted at TAMUC from Sophia. All in all they accepted 84 total credits (12 RA) that covered their core and elective requirements.
