The Pierpont BOG AAS probably cost me about $300, between DSST exams and sending transcripts.

My total OOP cost was $3,600. My total cost pre-FAFSA grants would have been $7,400.
Still better than all of my peers with UT and UNT degrees at $35,000. Plus I might get a semi-prestigious grad degree, which will offset my lackluster UG choice.

The cost of my 121 cr BSBA in Accounting (TESU) totals $6k. This includes residency waiver fee, grad fee, transcripts, books, and CC & Uni tuition for AOS cr. I used a lot of CLEP and Study.com for my requirements and I also scored 31 "free" credits through scholarships and other sources.

A lot depends on when you start, what programs are available, and what major you want. For example, there are many, many more options today for high school students to get free college credit (in some places). I know students graduating from high school with 60+ credit hours and they haven't spent a dime because they used dual credits. I'm in Ohio. I don't know if other states have the same options. ACE credits are pretty cheap, but community college credits and CLEP might be safer for transfer. I also think it depends on the major. My daughter wants (at least at the moment) to be a physical therapist. She can do dual enrollment and a physical therapy program through our career center to get her PT Assistant degree by the time she graduates high school. Her plan is to work her way through the additional years of college she'll need to get her masters and be a full-time physical therapist. That will probably require a combination of credit sources and they won't be the cheapest. However, I'm looking at working at the college she is interested in to see if that helps with tuition assistance. It's only 20 minutes from home so room & board will not be required. The major caveat to all this is that she is only 13 so all this will probably change. Six months ago she wanted to be a heart surgeon. So who knows. But at least we are talking about options for her to accomplish the goal of not just getting a degree, but a degree in a field she really wants to be in. My cousin is a surgeon and he started working on his goal in middle school. He graduated his pre-med program at 18. So anything is possible with really careful planning.
