What Test Should I Take First?

I am planning on taking my first CLEP test but am not sure which exam to take first. I have heard certain exams are easier than others. If so, which exam is most beneficial knocking out first?

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

Everybody says Analyzing & Interpreting Literature is the easiest, but you should really take a test in a subject that interests you or that you are good at, as your first test. So, what interests you?

Also, I'm assuming you've checked to make sure the college you are going to will accept CLEP credit. If you haven't, do that first. No use finding out after you've aced the test that your college won't give you any credit for it.

The General Humanities exam combines the Humanities and Literature, for 6 units. I am thinking that would be more beneficial to me. How is the Humanities test? I have heard some say it is easy and some say it is hard?

I would NOT do Humanities first. It was the second test that I took and it was a beast. Ok.. that being said, I loved studying for it and it wasn't all that hard, just really broad. I'm not sure what my opinion would be now as I've gotten used to CLEP/DSST and taken tests much tougher than Humanities since then. However, when I took it, I literally was sweating throughout the test and almost threw up when I walked out. It was just a TON of info.

However, if you really enjoy the arts and want to try it first, go for it! It's much easier to study a subject matter that keeps you engaged than it is to force yourself to take an "easy" test that bores you to tears.

If you're an IC member, I would recommend reading through the specific forum feedback, this will give you a really good idea of what each test entails.

Are there other credits that you can CLEP out of? There are other easy tests depending on what your school will take and what you need. I would also mention that if you have any sort of foreign language background, you don't want to miss getting your CLEP credits for that.

Am I stupid or what? Why am I the only one who thought sociology was the hardest thing ever?!

I thought Sociology stunk!!! I got a 62, my lowest score yet.
I loved A&I Literature (68), although the computer screen miniaturized the test window and I was forced to scroll up and down to read the text. Bummer...
Amer. Literature is good too, but A&I Lit. is much better.

Sociology ugh! Psychology ugh! A/I Literature, boring but doable. I guessed on almost the entire test and passed, not by alot. My heart was not in it that day. It was a very long hour. But 6 credits!
