Western Civilization I & World Religion

Hi Everyone!!
I am in the process right now of studying for my first test, which is the Western Civilization I. I have found a bunch of useful information from previous posts but I was wondering if anyone could give me some helpful advise about using IC. Looking at how many flashcards (about 400) there are for Western Civ I, how does one learn all of that information?
I am also using a book that I got from passyourclass.com, which seems to be helpful but I am kind of worried that not all of the information I need is contained in that booklet. Has anyone taken the Western Civ I test by only studying with the passyourclass book?
I am also planning on taking World Religions if anyone has any good advise about that test too.

In general, the idea behind our approach is that you read the question, think about it, and then click Next and read the explanation. After you go through all of the questions three or four times, you'll find yourself retaining more and more information.

Just keep going through them until you feel comfortable with the material.

You'll see that different people have figured out their own approach that works for them. Some like to look things up on wikipedia while they go along--reading more about a topic makes their knowledge well-rounded and helps the details to stick.

I think passyourclass notes work well as a supplement, but I can't say if I would recommend using them as an only resource. Going through our questions requires a bit of work, but it's a small price to pay for getting to skip an entire class and a textbook!

I found the combination of IC flashcards and passyourclass notes worked well for me on the DSST Environment and Humanity exam. Saprknotes are another good source to complement your IC studying.

If you go through all the questions on IC once or twice, you will begin to recognize key phrases and terms. Keep going back to the areas that confuse you or are unclear. I cross-referenced the IC material into the passyourclass book. I ended up with a condensed version of what I needed to pass the exam without the burden of a textbook. I also saved about $700.00. An excelsior science course is $825.00 for 3 credits...I spent about $125.00 on the DSST fee, IC, and passyourclass notes .

That is the beauty of this site...where else can one basically go to college for $20.00 a month plus a modest amount of $$ for supplements if you desire them? The only thing you need to bring to the mix is self-discipline and a desire to succeed. Good luck to you in your studies!

SGLOER - One thing that would be helpful is the ability to eliminate cards for which I already have mastered the knowledge. Currently I am pasting the info from those cards into a document and studying from there, but that somewhat defeats the purpose. Also, including all the cards for each review takes longer and I could study more efficiently if I could eliminate some. Is there a way to do this on your site? If not, anything in the works? Any suggestions you or anyone else has would be appreciated. Otherwise, I really appreciate this terrific resource you provide--particularly these forums.

i fairly did well for western civ with not too much studying ... i enjoy watching the history channel .....
