So I guess I am going to be all over the place. I just applied to TESC for the BA- Natural Sciences and Mathematics, but I'm wondering if it would kill me to just take the 5 more classes for a BSBA-Accounting. The reason I steered away from the BSBA is because I work at a recruiting agency and BSBAs are just a dime a dozen. Many of the office positions don't even require a specific degree. I was trying to go for something somewhat "solid". Is it possible to clep out of everything for a BSBA-Accounting? See my signature if confused. Thanks

You should use the search on the forum because there are a lot of great discussions on this topic.
No you can't clep out of everything for an accounting degree. Go to the tesc site and look at the accounting degree and then look at the undergraduate ways to earn credit page. You will see that you can do most of the business core through clep and dsst but you cannot clep managerial accounting which is a core requirement for the bsba. For that you can use straighterline.com.
Then for an actual accounting degree you will need a bunch of accounting classes. You can take some at penn foster for about 380 each with no proctored final in most cases. I found the penn foster classes very enjoyable and quick for me since I already knew some of the material.
You can use aleks.com, clep or straighterline for statistics.
A business degree never hurt anyone. If you are a computer whiz why not think about a BSBA CIS. Computer information systems professionals make good money after about 5 years of experience in a professional setting.

Haha ryoder, too bad I am VERY far from being a computer whiz! hilarious
I have never owned an iPhone or Blackberry and just barely learned how to turn on my plasma TV. I still don't know how to change the ink cartridges in my printer. Yet I graduated nursing school..don't know how either.
I am looking at Straighterline and it doesn't seem too bad. I'd be able to complete my Accounting stuff through there? I'm terrified..heard Accounting was hell. But looking for quickest and most affordable route..otherwise I suppose I will stick with my BA.

I would start your foray into accounting by reading some sort of dummies book on it. I read accounting demystified all the way through and then read a little of the REA clep book and realized I didn't want to try and CLEP out of it.
Learn the basics first on your own. Don't try to rush through it without reading an entire book on it. You cannot do that. A 180 page book should be readable in 10 hours or so. Read the book then sign up for straighterline. I did both accounting I and II at straighterline in less than a week but I had read that book and math is easy for me.
You can also do business communications there and statistics. Highly recommended.

Basic math is extremely easy for me. I just have no idea what Accounting holds. I will definitely take your suggestions. I haven't had to take any really advanced Math, so that's why I'm kind of trying to see what Accounting is all about. People say it's very hard, but others say Math classes are WAY harder. I'm torn. :ack:

Just a recommendation. Stop worrying about what other people are saying and pick up a book on accounting and find out for yourself.
Its not hard but its a little weird at first. Debits, credits etc can throw people off. Its not what you think it is.
I would start with wikipedia and free sources and also grab an accounting for dummies or accounting demystified. The REA book is good too.

Awesome. Looks like you have to buy books, but I am browsing.cheersmate
Highly considering changing my major to Accounting. I may not be able to graduate December 2011 like I wanted to, though. Going to take one Accounting class before I make the decision.
