My understanding is that he'll have to take more than one course to qualify for enrollment since he has no work experience in programming or IT.
He initially wanted to do an expensive local bootcamp which promised the moon, employment-wise. While they might well get him a job, I feel he'll have to do something like this ultimately anyway, if not straight up CS, plus I want him to take something cheaper until he's sure about it.

I second this course ( https://www.udemy.com/the-web-developer-bootcamp/). I've purchased it for myself and it is excellent! It's also been used by some to help prepare for and pass their Web Development Foundations course. You can often find it "on sale" for $10 so it's a low cost way to test the waters.

Wow, I'm going to have him buy it immediately. For $10, it's a no brainier, even if just for extra study material.

It's a good value at $10 for sure. Be careful though, the "limited time sale" is always going on, so there's no need to rush to buy it.

Good to know, thanks for the links. I still think it a good idea for him to take a couple of programming course before plunking down for WGU.

Technical Comm will be satisfied by his BSBA.
Business of IT - Applications can be satisfied by the MIS DSST exam, or you can take a course at Study.com, Ed4Credit, or Davar.
I don't think Network & Security can be done through Straighterline, nor do I think Data Management-Applications can be done through Sophia.
If I were your son, I might give some thought to signing up for a month or two of study.com, and going through all of their computer courses, or at least ones he thinks might be applicable to the degree. If he was going to get the 3 that he could use towards WGU, then he might as well take the rest for free, even if he didn't need them or he wasn't going to get credit for them. He'd start out ahead, with some knowledge before starting the program.
For-credit courses available:
BUS 104: Information Systems and Computer Applications
BUS 109: Intro to Computing
COMPSCI 102: Fundamentals of IT (needed for WGU degree)
COMPSCI 103: Computer Concepts & Applications
COMPSCI 302: Systems Analysis & Design
COMPSCI 303: Database Management (needed for WGU degree)
BUS 303: Management Info Systems (needed for WGU degree)
Courses available, but not ACE/NCCRS Approved for credit
COMPSCI 105: Intro to Operating Systems
COMPSCI 106: Intro to Linux
COMPSCI 107: Database Fundamentals
COMPSCI 108: Intro to Networking
COMPSCI 110: Intro to Cybersecurity
COMPSCI 112: Programming in C++
COMPSCI 112: Programming in Python
COMPSCI 115: Programming in Java
COMPSCI 201: Data Structures & Algorithms
COMPSCI 204: Database Programming
COMPSCI 304: Network System Design
COMPSCI 305: Operating Systems
COMPSCI 306: Computer Architecture
COMPSCI 307: Software Engineering
COMPSCI 311: Artificial Intelligence
COMPSCI 320: Digital Forensics

Thanks for the info on Technical Comm. The rest fits what I've found. I don't see where BUS 303 MIS fits into the SW Dev degree, though. I'm also still unclear where he can fulfill Scripting and Programming - Foundations. I think it's just plain old CS 101, but in another language, which Saylor has for Java, although I'd prefer another source.

I still think he should just do the MS MTA HTML certificate and apply
the worst that can happen is they say no
but if they say no at least they'll tell you what you lack and what certificate or course you need to be accepted
either way that says time and money

My husband took the 2 DSST's (MIS and Cybersecurity), and when he got his WGU eval for a BS in Cybersecurity, MIS was applied towards Business of IT - Applications.
