Hey, didn't see this mentioned on the forums. I'm a current student and got an Email that WGU is raising its tuition from $3,975 to $4,125 per term (an increase of $150), not including the $200 materials fee. The increase will start September 1st 2024 and be valid for anyone starting a new term on or after September, as well as people starting before September but paying monthly. For reference, I'm in the Master's in Elementary Education.

So that means all of the schools will be increasing tuition. If I remember correctly, the school of education has the lowest tuition. The increase in materials fee sucks since it's not like there's new materials.

I worded it badly. There is no increase in materials fees, it is still $200. The increase is in the tuition section, of +$150. So as of Sept. you will pay:
Tuition:
$4,125
Materials: $200
= $4,325 per term

The materials are definitely higher than last year. Mine were $150 last summer.

I joined WGU in March 2024 and my material fee was $200, so maybe they raised it in January 2024 or something.

I'm surprised tuition hasn't gone up more in the past 4 years with this crazy inflation.

Their main goal isn't to raise prices, but to use the revenue to sustain the growth, they've got staff, and other expenses that increased due to the sheer number of people attending the institution and their state-endorsed affiliates...
