Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here has used VOIP? I'm looking into MajicJack, Ooma, Vonage, and any other complanies I can find. Any input is appreciated.

well, MagicJack should be free. You can get it as an app on your smartphone. Other companies charge for the service, and provide other features. As long as you have decent internet it's a great way to save money. Just watch out, if you cancel your regular phone service, and you have DSL, your ISP might charge you extra

I have a free phone number through Google Voice. I then bought a $50 white box called OBiHai. What the ObiHai box does is maintain a constant connection with Google Voice via my ethernet router. It is completely free and unlimited talk time anywhere in the U.S. You can look into it more at Obihai - Home. I have been using this service now for nearly a year and it works great.

Thanks for the reply's. I did check out majicjack and Obihai, both look appealing. I ended up going with Ooma since it had higher reviews. The box itself was $$$ $179, and if i go with the full package it is $120 per year. Better than $75 per month I have been paying. I estimate in 4 months it will pay for itself. I post with an update once I get it.
