Urgent Help Needed: Am I Missing Out on a Double Degree or Associate Degree at TESU?
#1
Hello,

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a concentration in Finance at Thomas Edison State University (TESU). At this stage, I have two courses remaining to complete my degree requirements: the Capstone course and the Cornerstone course. However, before I proceed to graduation, I want to ensure that I am not missing out on any opportunities to obtain a double or an associate degree.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could review my academic credits and provide guidance on whether I am eligible for an additional degree. Specifically, I am interested in understanding if there are any additional courses or requirements I could fulfill to maximize my educational accomplishments before I graduate.
Additionally, I plan to pay the residency waiver fee. Although I am aware that there are more cost-effective ways to complete the residency requirement, I have specific reasons for choosing this path.

Furthermore, my final ACE credit is still pending. This credit is for a Business Communication course from Study.com, which has not yet been applied to my transcript. I am waiting for TESU to process and apply this credit.

Could someone please assist me by reviewing my credits and providing guidance on the best course of action to achieve my educational goals? Your help in identifying the most efficient and beneficial path forward would be immensely valuable.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,

You can mock up your own plans using the My Progress tool in TESU Self-Service. At a glance - you might have all the credits needed for the AS Computer Science. You could also check whether you're close to any certificates - for example, you're also about 2 classes away from the Marketing (need marketing research and one more elective) and Ops Management (need OPM-3010 and CIS-3010) certificates.

@User7364, Hmm... I got your private message, but it's blank, just a quote to my previous replies to you... I think you may have inserted your thread link into the top of my quote, thus, making it look like I posted the link. Anyways, I would review the advice provided before this post of mine, it's got the two links for the Associates and Certs that I was going to include.

Basically... Your best options is to get additional certs, and the AA, plus ASBA, these certs/associates are both free add-ons, get them applied into your degree plan list and 'forget them' if you have all the credits completed, if not, complete the credits before you do the capstone/cornerstone. Note: One of your classes says "Not Started: MAN-3730 Managerial Communications"

I did business communication from Study.com and just need to get it inserted here; I don't know why they haven't yet, but I sent my transcript a few times and from Credly, but I have a meeting about it today.

I spoke to an advisor and sent my transcript directly from Study.com. I enrolled in AS in Computer Science. Anything else I should know before graduation?

Deadlines are July 1st to apply for graduation. You apply once for each degree. If you apply late, there is a late fee, and they don't guarantee you graduate on time.

That's the chance to get an additional AA or ASBA along with your AS Comp Sci... You can also take corresponding Coursera, Google, TEEX, Sophia.org, Study.com classes that can go towards the additional certs that was linked earlier. That's all there is to it, you'll be able to add whichever cert, such as the CIS and the Operations Management certs with minimal work...

I had a meeting with the advisor today; she said I could only earn one associate degree per gruadtion cycle as per the policy - is this really true? https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/current/...es-policy/

I am confused. So I can enroll in another AA or ASBA degree? My current plan is a BSBA in Finance & an AS in Computer Science and some CERT.

Your academic advisor isn't correct with that as the link already indicates you can have simultaneous associates as long as you have 'different' credits in the associates area of study. AA vs ASBA vs AS all have a different area of study, and is a different degree as well. Thus, you need to highlight what is mentioned below in the link you provided... So, grab an AA, AS, ASBA (two of the three), it won't really matter which one you want, and add the certs you would like as well.

First Simultaneous Associate or Baccalaureate Degrees

Students who desire to have two different Thomas Edison State University baccalaureate degrees awarded in the same graduation cycle may do so providing 24 credits are different in the second degree's core/area of study. In addition, all requirements for both degrees must be satisfied.

Students who desire to have two different Thomas Edison State University associate degrees awarded in the same graduation cycle may do so providing 12 credits that are different in the second degree's option. In addition, all requirements for both degrees must be satisfied.

In both cases, the degrees earned must be different degrees, not just a different/additional area of study. For one degree with two areas of study/options, refer to the Two Areas of Study within One Degree policy.
