Upper level arts/sciences?
#1
Greetings everyone,

I am awaiting my degree plan from Excelsior right now for a BS in Lib Arts. I know I’ll need a bunch of upper level arts/sciences. I’d appreciate if anyone would list a bunch of upper level DANTES/CLEP/EXC and include those that are 6 credits vs 3 credits. Don’t be too bashful to say which ones are really easy too. Is there anything out like the FEMA courses I’ve read about that can cover arts/sciences at the upper level.

Appreciate your time, and thank you, erj

Hello there, the best advise I can give you is to download the Excelsior College Catalog and the Academic Policies from the EC webpage and, if I'm not mistaken, the last couple of pages gives you a list of all the examinations you can use to apply towards your degree. It includes upper and lower level, and it includes Clep, Dantes and EC. You can actually use it to create your own degree roadmap. As far as Fema, I have no clue, so maybe somebody else can help on that.
Remember that CLEPs will not give you upper level credit and Dantes has about 4 or so exams that will give you upper level credits. If you are going for the Liberal Studies degree, I would recommend you to start getting ready for the Dantes ULs while you wait for your evaluation, since they are cheaper than EC exams and you can definitely apply them to your degree.
Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. Since I'm in the AF I have the benefit of an education office that will cover the expenses whether it is CLEP, DANTES or EXC...

With 200+ sem hours from 7 soures I'm just looking for the most expedient way to finish the Bachelors so I can begin Graduate work.

Thanks again for the help, Erj

Hey!

I am military as well. It is pretty sweet not having to risk a small fortune every time I go off half-cocked and take a test.
I just finished 15 of my UL arts credits in less than 5 weeks. Here is the order I would take them in by easy to hard. You may think differently if you don't like history and psychology. This will put you at 21 credits. They can all be done using only IC and maybe a little history channel! You could probably take 2 a week once you get the hang of it.
Good Luck

Hi BMW,

Since Penn Foster is a two-year college which doesn't grant anything higher than an Associate Degree, Excelsior will only accept their courses as lower level credit. I don't believe that any PFC courses are ACE-evaluated as UL credit either.

Hope that helps,
Snazzlefrag

Oh well! Worth a shot! I guess one of the perks of TESC is that they accept 200 level courses as UL.

The good news is, Penn Foster works as a wonderful "safety net" for the CLEP/DSST and is a great way to boost GPA if needed.
