Update: Excelsior College confirmed that the only Study.com course that will come in as upper-level is History 306: The Civil War Era. As for English 305/ Advanced Technical Writing, even though ACE recommends it for upper-level credit, Excelsior College does NOT. Ugh. So, it's safe to say that Excelsior College does not follow ACE recommendations as I had previously hoped. Oh well. I'll start checking out those DSST tests!

This seems like a Study.com issue, actually. It looks like TESU and Excelsior have decided to take a close look at their courses and determined that they aren't worth UL credits. It has long been my opinion that they don't teach subjects at the college level, so I'm not surprised.

Sanantone as usual is spot on!
Study.com may have college credit for their stick figure animation classes (I was there at their Beta Stage!) but UL credit for completion on some of them is going a bit far.
I'm trying to find HR relevant UL credit to finish out my degree at Excelsior without paying $460 a credit hour at EC, any suggestions.
For those who are not using a "MAP" to guide their UL you need to remember that they are required to be UL degree specific and Core specific. A UL history or ethics DSST or Uexcel won't fit in a business degree but will be equal to an elective or fulfill your ethics requirement within the business degree.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

Did you already ask about Penn Foster's courses or CSU Global CBEs?

Just checking back in to see if anyone has taken Shmoop courses for Excelsior. I know many of them provide upper-level credits at TESU, but what about at Excelsior? Thanks for any info!

How does this provide helpful information? Excelsior already told the OP that all but one of Study.com's gen ed courses would come in as LL despite some of them being recommended as UL.

ACC 303: Cost Accounting (ACE & NCCRS)
BUS 209: Mentoring & Leadership Development in the Workplace (NCCRS)
BUS 307: Leadership and Organizational Behavior (ACE & NCCRS)
BUS 308: Globalization and International Management (ACE & NCCRS)
BUS 312: Advanced Operations Management (ACE & NCCRS)
BUS 314: Employment Law (NCCRS)
BUS 315: Logistics and Supply Chain Management (ACE)
HOSP 301: Hospitality Marketing (ACE)
ENGL 305: Advanced Technical Writing (ACE & NCCRS)
SCI 102: Principles of Physical Science (NCCRS)
EDU 103: Classroom Management (NCCRS)
EDU 104: Differentiated Instruction (NCCRS)
EDU 105: Special Education History & Law (NCCRS)
HIS 306: The American Civil War Era (ACE & NCCRS)
HIS 308: Causes & Effects of the Vietnam War
NURS 301: Nursing Informatics (NCCRS)
Old thread-- but still VERY relevant. Especially with TESU and Shmoop throwing some of us a curveball. The info provided may not be 100% accurate-- but gives me/us somewhere to start, instead of going at it from scratch. Thanks dfrecore!!
I also wonder if others have updates on what EC has been accepting as UL? Both for GE courses and AOS.
