New program added to their list of competency-based grad degrees:
https://www.phoenix.edu/degrees/psycholo...gy-cb.html
--"Once ready, faculty can unlock competency assessments so you can demonstrate what you know and how to apply it."
Can anyone comment on how UoPx assesses competencies for graduate degrees?
(Exams? Assigned papers? Projects?)
Thanks for any insight into how the assessment process works....

I've been waiting for this program to become available. The curriculum checks off the boxes for what's usually required for a psychology license. You'll still need the doctorate, but specific required courses can usually be masters-level or doctoral-level.

Typically, CACREP accreditation is the key to state licensure. It's not clear to me that this is a Clinical degree. From the website
"What can you do with a Master's in Psychology degree?
An MSP can prepare you to be a:
- Psychology instructor
- Compliance manager
- Regulatory affairs manager"
Therapist/Clinician/Counselor career path conspicuously absent. It might be a great program but it's not clear to me that they are training Therapists.

I wasn't talking about licensed mental health counselors and licensed professional counselors. I'm talking about psychologists. Some states also have masters-level psychological associates, assistants, or technicians. If you want to be a counseling or clinical psychologist, you'll still need a doctoral degree. However, specific courses that are required for the license can be completed at the masters level. I didn't say this was a licensure program.

I know you didn't say it. I was just being explicit for the benefit of people who might not know that much about it.

I didn't get any replies on here about competency assessments, so I tried searching a bit online.
Found a couple examples of assessments for MBA classes which are writing assignments requesting an analysis, or dealing with mock business scenarios.
https://www.sweetstudy.com/files/sh-mgtc...bric14-pdf
https://www.studocu.com/en-us/document/u...b/22549188
Now I'm wondering if the psychology competency assessments would offer up mock cases for applying diagnostic criteria, reviews of raw research data for patterns & insight, critiquing of decisions based on applied psychology in various scenarios, etc. (versus simply writing more "traditional" papers.)

There are people who earn Masters degrees in Psychology but don't qualify for state licensure wherever thet live. There are CAGS programs around that people can do in order to put themselves over the top re licensure requirements. Here's one
