University of Central Arkansas's Online Ph.D
#1
Hello!

I got accepted into the University of Central Arkansas's Ph.D. in Change Leadership for Equity and Inclusion program I discovered through a Facebook group for former WGU grads pursuing DBAs and PhDs. I had also applied to South College for the DBA and was slated to start this April, but now I am pondering on what to do.

For the UCA program, it lists on the website that acceptance is competitive, so I am wondering if that is true and if I was lucky to get in. I am going to call in tomorrow to find out more information if I can. Any tips from PhD's students would be highly appreciated.

The UCA program will cost significantly more than South College (over double) and I am price-conscious, so really trying to weigh my options.

Top results in Google show acceptance rates of 90-94%, although those are not for the PhD program. Still, I would guess they not very competitive.

@mohelena02, it really depends what you're looking at. Are those the only two options? Have you checked U of Cumberlands and others that have been mentioned on this board and the sister board? Are you jumping straight to the DBA/PhD or are you going to follow through with a WGU MBA first?

Hi @bjcheung77!!

My three main options are:
--University of Central Arkansas, Ph.D. in Change Leadership for Equity and Inclusion, 63 credits, $325 per credit hour, total approx $20,475
--South College, DBA, 3 semester, $5,500 per semester, total approx $16,500
--Texas Woman's University Education, Leadership, and Organization, 45 credit hours, $432 per hour, total approx $19,440 or
60 credit hours, $432 per hour, total approx $25,920 -- depending on how many credits from MSML are accepted

I looked into the U of Cumberlands and the pricing is higher than UCA so I am not really interested. I am waiting to hear back if I got into the Texas's Woman's University program, which will be a bit higher than UCA but the school is close to me and in Texas so I am more interested in it.

The MBA is a no go, I was going to have my employer pay for it but I got laid off, so I am going to go ahead with the Ph.D. instead.

UCA doesn't seem to participate in the Common Data Set, so I can't find a breakdown of even their undergraduate admissions data. They have a rolling admissions policy. I'd say UCA would be viewed as a more reputable program than South College, but that is based on its association with a RA state school than anything else.

Off topic but it looks like good option for those looking for a AACSB MBA for $10k.

Edit : forget it. The MBA isn’t a discounted program.

Rolling admission colleges receive and respond to college applications during a larger window of time or “as they roll in.”

This may be a stupid question, but, does the Texas Women's University PHD in Education, Leadership, and Organization allow men to enter the program? I am guessing so because there is a picture of a man on the website https://twu.edu/teacher-education/gradua...ganization.

Thanks,

Texas Women's U is co-ed.  I used to live in Dallas and although it is not prestigious, TWU is a well respected school.  A good friend of mine got his MBA there and is doing pretty well.  Outside Texas though, I do understand how that name might make someone assume it enrols only women.
