Unimarconi Master via ENEB Thread
#51
(11-18-2025, 09:03 AM)Kalas Wrote: I got some clarification from ENEB.

On the courses in each degree: Even though the courses I took for Big Data are completely different from what I see now, my previous work was accepted by Unimarconi to fulfill the coursework requirement for the degree. I have the option to redo them and get new grades on the Unimarconi transcript. I did not receive a direct answer as to whether convalidating the credit from my ENEB degree will result in getting the same grade I got at ENEB or if it will say "conv" or "exempt" or "transfer" or something similar, so I asked again. The default option is to go with the convalidation. You will have to let academy know you want to redo the courses for new grades. It is more important to me for my transcript to be usable for further academic study than it is to get out of 150-160 pages of writing. It sounds like everyone here shares that opinion.

On the final project: It was confirmed that what we see now is THE final project and there isn't a separate 12,000 word thesis that will need to be done later. The part about the thesis being 12,000 words has been removed from the sales page. Based on conflicting email responses over the last week there appears to have been a miscommunication about something between ENEB and Unimarconi which is now resolved.

On the comprehensive exam: You have to finish all of the modules if they don't transfer/you are choosing to redo them and complete the final project before you will be able to take the comprehensive exam. You will make an appointment to take the exam and there are no dates available at this time. It is expected to be available sometime next year. The wording used gave me the impression that the comprehensive exam is given and proctored by Unimarconi directly and Unimarconi is still making the final decisions/preparations for it.

I got the same type of confirmation today. I had asked to get my 6-course exemptions removed so I can get fresh new grades for the best possible transcript outcome.
My understanding is that the Exam validates the grades instead of overriding them, and it did sound like it's some kind of live proctored exam.  They did say before that we can "use our notes".

The Master's Final Project is what it is, but it's not that much difference between 18 pages (9,000 words) versus 24 pages (12,000 single-spaced). It's still very much respectable graduate-level work

What's not 100% clear is, if there will be a transcript from Unimarconi. I will follow up and ask ENEB that next and update

ENEB does not know for sure how Unimarconi will handle convalidated courses on the transcript as that is an internal Unimarconi decision that apparently has not been finalized and/or shared with ENEB. It is possible that the grade will transfer if you do the convalidation, but the guy at ENEB strongly recommended completing all of the final projects to make sure you get real grades if you are using the transcript in the future.

So that removes all ambiguity from that. If you're reading this forum, you're doing the projects. If your plan is to do Unimarconi and you haven't signed up for ENEB degrees yet, skip the ENEB degrees completely and go right for Unimarconi. The only scenario I see where convalidation makes sense if you are European, you are sure you will never need to use the degree outside of Europe and you are sure you are never going to use it to gain admission into another academic program in the future.

From what I've seen on evaluations posted here European grades are converted to a 4 scale proportionally, rather than treated as a percentage. 9/10 would typically be a B+ or 3.33/4 as a grade on as assignment in an American school, but would evaluate to 3.6/4 or almost an A-. That may vary be evaluator.

edit: I asked about the Unimarconi transcript back in September and was told the transcript is coming from Unimarconi, just like in the picture. The sample Unimarconi transcript I saw treated the comprehensive exam as one course in the program with its own grade.

I received a somewhat conflicting response from ENEB compared to the one you received, but the takeaway is essentially the same: doing all the coursework is best.

I copied the response below:

[Image: 72.png] How validated subjects appear on the Università Marconi transcript

The official information confirms the validation of completed ENEB modules but does not indicate that ENEB grades are transferred or reproduced on the Università Marconi transcript.

This means:
  • Your ENEB subjects will appear as validated (recognised as completed).

  • The Knowledge Base does not specify the exact label (“conv”, “val”, “validated”, etc.), only that the modules are validated.

  • ENEB numerical grades are not transferred to the official university record.
[Image: 72.png] What will be graded in the official degree?

For the Università Marconi Master’s, the only graded components are:
  1. Final Master’s Thesis (TFM)

  2. Official 135-question multiple-choice exam
These two assessments form the graded part of your university transcript, while validated ENEB modules simply confirm academic completion.

[Image: 72.png] Summary
  • All ENEB modules = validated, not graded.

  • ENEB grades = not transferred.

  • Official transcript grades come only from the TFM + final MCQ exam.

The message I got today was very similar but not as clear as the one Slammx just got. I had to reply to ask one more time for clarifcation, as it said the transcript will be signed by both ENEB and Unimarconi, showing the ENEB module results (as validated).

It sounds like the transcript will have grades for the Final Master's Project and Exam, and the modules will show as validated only with no grades. If this is the case I asked them to please give me back the credits for the modules I have already completed, so I don't have to do all 10 modules, and save time.
To me it's sounding more like Unimarconi is acting kind of like Ui1 to provide the degree diploma (which would probably arrive in the same portal as the Ui1 diplomas). It is possible the transcripts are hosted by ENEB, and branded like the UNISEB transcripts (meaning that it's dually branded) showing both ENEB and Unimarconi logos, duall stamp and signature, however, the message SlammX got sounds more like what an official Unimarconi transcript should look like.  Anyways, in the Unithena examples, the grades from the teaching institution show, and the teaching institution is named half way down the sheet, and I was hoping for something like that.. I will just complete this and take it for what it is. We are doing our best to upgrade the propio to the highest level possible Smile Below is the actual message for transparency, it's this part that get me, as I am hopeful for a grade:

Your full academic transcript, signed by both ENEB and Marconi University. This includes your ENEB module results (as already validated)
Results = Grade
As already validated = acceptance of the grades?

I think I am being totally hopeful on this one.

Here is the email:

Thank you for your message. I can confirm that your academic documentation follows the standard process outlined in our official guidelines.
Once you complete all phases of the program (validated modules, Master’s Final Project, and final exam), you will receive the following:

1. Completion Certificate (Resguardo)
If you finish all requirements before the official issuance period, you will receive a provisional certificate confirming that all phases have been successfully completed and that your official documentation is in process.

2. Official Documentation (Issued within a maximum of 90 working days)

Once the administrative process begins, you will receive:

  • Your official Master’s degree diploma issued by Università degli Studi di Roma “Guglielmo Marconi”.

  • Your full academic transcript, signed by both ENEB and Marconi University. This includes your ENEB module results (as already validated) as well as your Master’s Final Project and final exam grades.

  • Your ENEB diploma, along with the university certification from Universidad Isabel I.
This completes your entire academic file. No additional transcripts, classifications, or evaluations are part of this pathway.

Everything you need for academic or professional use will be included in this final documentation package.

If at any point you need support with the submission steps inside your campus, we will be happy to assist. Otherwise, your process is fully clear and in order.
We remain at your disposal for any further information.

Hello all,

I've been following this thread for a bit and it's very interesting.
I started doing some research on how BENELUX countries saw Master di 1° Livello and Master 2° Livello degrees.
I stumbled upon an announcement from the Luxembourgish Ministry of Research and Higher Education, that the degrees won't be entered in the Register of formal higher education qualifications anymore.

"Master universitario di primo/secondo livello

Italian degrees of Master universitario di 1° (primo) livello and Master universitario di 2° (secondo) livello awarded from the 2024/2025 academic year onwards will no longer be entered in the Register of formal higher education qualifications."

Not sure what this immediately means for receiving accreditation, but it's not the best news.

Both qualifications (Master universitario di 1° (primo) livello and Master universitario di 2° (secondo) livello) are Italian postgraduate titles, but they do not belong to the official Bologna cycles (Bachelor - Master - Doctorate) (or LMD system as the website refers to it).

They are part of “Formazione post-laurea non accademica” (continuing professional education), even though universities award them.

Because they sit outside the Bologna cycles, most countries in the EHEA (including Luxembourg) treat them as non-academic postgraduate certificates, not as Bologna Master degrees.

Simply put, think of them like you would a Spanish propio.

If you dig around enough you will find that almost every country in Europe has a problem with some kind of degree issued somewhere else in Europe. That is why the EQF system was established in 2008 and updated in 2017. We mainly talk about European degrees that are cheap and available in English on this forum, but if you look deeply enough you'll find many other European countries have similar fuckery hidden somewhere in their educational systems. If you think the differences between different European education systems are confusing now, you have no idea how much non-UK European degrees from non-famous universities were shit on in the early/mid 00s.

PositiveBelgae's link is correct, but the interpretation in the previous two posts is not.

FACT: 1 Livello and 2 Livello degrees issued after the 2024-25 academic year are not treated as official degrees IN LUXEMBOURG. Are you using this degree to apply for a job in Luxembourg? Are you using this degree to apply for a doctoral program in Luxembourg? If the answers to this question are no, it doesn't affect you. If you live/work in Luxembourg it matters quite a lot.
FACT: 1 Livello and 2 Livello degrees are geared toward professional employment. They do NOT qualify for entry into doctoral programs IN ITALY. This has always been the case. Unless your plan is to use this to get into an Italian doctoral program, that does not matter.
FACT: These are OFFICIAL degrees recognized as EQF Level 7, which is the same level as 2 year master's programs in Italy that do qualify for entry into Italian doctoral programs. The 2 Livello is a DOCTORAL-level terminal degree geared toward employment rather than research. WES has evaluated 1 Livello degrees as the equivalent of a US RA Master's degree.
FACT: A Spanish propio is EQF Level Jack Shit and is in no way the academic equivalent of an EQF Level 7 degree. Propios have more utility for us as foreigners getting them evaluated to something useful than they do for Spaniards.

Aside from limited utility in Luxembourg, none of this is new information.

We'll find out with a real test of the degree soon enough. I'm trying to find a time that works, but I am expecting to interview with the president of GCAS for entry to a PhD program, with a research proposal that could be classified as math or physics, sometime in the first half of December. Frankly, I'm expecting more pushback from teaching myself the math and physics needed to do this research than I am from the degree, but if he shits on the degree and uses that as a reason to tell me to pound sand I'll disclose that too.

I didn't say they were propios. I said to think of them "like" propios. And its not just treated like this in Luxembourg by the way. Countries such as Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Nordic countries, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, and most Eastern European agencies don't just discount MU1 and MU2 for entry into doctoral programs - they do not recognize these as a “Master” degree either.

Why? They are not part of the official two-year cycle leading to a Master’s degree. They are considered continuing education or professional specialization and are usually treated like postgraduate certificates (PGCert/PGDip level). When recognized at all, they are placed at EQF Level 6 or 7 (depending on the entry requirement, not the title).

A MU2 is sometimes placed slightly higher than MU1 because of its entry requirement (you need a full Master to access it), but it does not become EQF 7 by virtue of the title. Even if the qualification is not recognized as a Master, the 60 ECTS credits may be recognized toward another program, especially a real Master’s degree.

How specific national agencies normally classify them (General pattern across ENIC-NARIC centers):

Germany (ZAB): MU1 and MU2 = “Weiterbildende Studiengänge" → not equivalent to Master; treated as continuing education.
Netherlands (NUFFIC): Treated as “non-degree postgraduate programs”; not equivalent to a Master.
Ireland (QQI / NARIC): Not considered a Master’s degree; generally mapped to Level 9 partial qualification.
Spain: They translate into “Títulos Propios”-type continuing education, not official degrees (títulos oficiales).
Portugal: Treated as Cursos de Especialização Pós-graduada (postgraduate specialisation courses); not equivalent to a Master.
Nordic agencies (Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway): Treat MU1/MU2 as “professional specialisation courses”; no automatic degree equivalence.
UK (ENIC): Usually evaluated as a postgraduate diploma, never as a Master’s degree.

You cannot use MU1 or MU2 to apply for doctoral programs in most EHEA countries, claim Master-level professional privileges (where regulated), or apply for jobs requiring a Bologna Master (second cycle degree).

You can use them for CPD and professional specialization, adding ECTS credits toward another qualification, strengthening a professional profile (but not as an accredited Master).

Now you'll of course find the most utility in Italy, possibly find some utility outside of the European Higher Education Area, and probably find some utility in the US where equivalency depends on Evaluator Bob's mood and what he had for lunch that day.

Official masters are "Laurea Magistrale". The Unimarconi masters are "Master Universitario" i.e. University Masters.
