Took the test today and failed with a 45. I used instantcert and rea (only the test questions) for a book i used us history for dummies and some wiki sites. My reason on the fail is i really did not study hard enough or long enough. I tried to study everything in a 2 week peroid but had things come up. Anyways here are some things they may help others to pass
Things i,ve had
Where the german immigrants settled
Who financed the first railroad
A few questions regarding the early 19th century
What were the dutch settlers called
Peublo rebellion
Shays rebellion questions
A few dealing with indians i.e. Tecumsah, crazy horse, sitting bull
A few about the womens movement
Know a little about new inventions in time periods

Recognizing what didn't work will help you plan for next time. I think you had great sources, but you're right about probably not spending long enough in the subject. Chin up, most of us have had a fail or two, just keep plowing ahead!

Thank you all for the encouragements. What i plan on doing is to continue with cleping another exam. This was my first one. Now that i know the process and how i need to study. I will be better prepared for the next one

Since you have a start on the studying, maybe the DSST Civil War and Reconstruction?

InstantCert is invaluable for this exam. You should pay attention to the exam specific section of this forum ( for members of instantcert) Also check out History 7b from archive .net and spend a while familiarizing yourself with the content before you take the resit which should be in six months. The great thing about failing is that it doesn't show on your transcript. You get a fresh start in six months and you will succeed.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum : InstantCert Plus of course your hard work in learning and reviewing

Good news if you want to retake the CLEP sooner.... The College Board just changed your retake period to THREE months!! Here's the info directly from the source:
"As of October 17, 2014, the waiting period is three months. Please note that this policy is in effect only for students who test on October 17, 2014 or after. For students who test prior to October 17, the waiting period to retake an exam is six months."
