I'm taking US History II tomorrow and was wondering if the CLEP Official Guide is really representative of the exam. The reason I ask, I'm able to bang out 70-90% while taking the IC sections, but scored a measly 50% on the official practice exam.
Should I be concerned?

Hard to say as the official practice exam is a representative sample of what you'll be facing. With IC, either you can fill in the blank or you can't. With a practice/mock exam, you have 5 choices and some of these can trip you up if you jump at the wrong one.
The key is to slow down, eliminate what answers cannot apply and carefully choose between what's left. It would be nice if all of the answers jumped off the page but they don't so don't rush to any conclusions.
GOOD LUCK!!

Us History 2 Test...tips

Concentrate On The Era Of 1890 To 1940..most Of The Questions Are Centered There. I Just Took The Test A Week Or So Ago And Was Very Surprised That Really Few If Any Questions Related To Anywhere Near Present Day Topics. Pay A little Attention To George Bush And What He Wanted His Administration To Be Remembered For....a lot Of Questions Regarding The Depression, The Teddy Roosevelt Era, And Social Programs And Concerns Of The Early 1900's Thru 1950. I Used Only The Instantcert Study Guide Flash Cards And Absolutely Nothing Else. I Would 100% Recommend Paying Close Attention To The Script That Is Corresponding To The Answers On The Flash Card And If You Do that You'll Be Fine.

Just got back from my exam, passed with a 61. IC covers much of the exam. I concur with armymom's description of the exam.

Yeah, very impressive. I will be taking this exam soon as well. Originally taking the clep practice and peterson tests, it seems instantcert does not sufficently cover the material. But I am glad to hear that it does, and I am even more glad to hear that you passed

Hi Spazz,
Just in case you need some extra study material, here are couple of excellent resources:
http://www.sparknotes.com/history/
(You'll have to pick and choose the applicable sections to study)
http://www.pinkmonkey.com/studyguides/su...ntents.asp
(Same again, you'll need to study only the topics covered on the exam)
Hope this helps,
