I need to take a CLEP in order to get my AA, and it's looking like it's going to be between the US History 1 (Early civilization-1877) test or the American Government test. I'm currently a Junior in college and I took US History Honors last maybe in Junior year of HS and I took AP American Government in my senior year of HS. I was thinking about taking the Am. Gov't test, but I read online that the History one is a lot easier. Which one should I take? I have about two weeks (if that) to study and take it and I NEED to pass!!!!! Please help! And any advice/tips on either test would be greatly appreciated!

Agreeing with CLEP3705. Both tests are doable, but the history test is easier.

As far as tips for studying, the REA book mentioned above is great. Also, there is instantcert, cliffnotes, and free videos from hippocampus and education portal.

American Gov is harder than US History 1. But try a practice test for each, and that can help guide you. Consider what you score, and what questions you're more comfortable with.

Getting ready for u.s his 1 this month and usinging instant cert slides over and over along with the REA I should be fine. Your u.s government ap classes will help towards the constitution and the understanding of the three branches of government. I've only got 1 hand working so please excuse the typos.

Unfortunately, I got a 2 on the AP test so the credit did not count. I needed a 3 for college credit.

Easiest - U.S. History - More fact based as opposed to American Govt. which seems to be understanding-based (if that makes any sense). REA, Petersons, AP History website and IC will definitely help you pass the test with flying colors.
