URGENT Attention
#1
Hi forum I received this email today regarding I have to pay more on top of what I already paid.
I pay the flat rate and TESU is now charging me extra because of the new changes I think.

 Dear Mr.*********** (670***)

Congratulations on your close approach to obtaining your degree! The Office of the Registrar has initiated the review of your graduation request and has determined that you have not met the residency requirements set forth in the Credit Hour Residency Requirements in the University Catalog. Therefore, your account has been invoiced for the residency fee of $3,288.00, which requires payment before your graduation request is processed and certified.

Further information regarding the credit hour residency requirement can be reviewed at Thomas Edison State University - Residency Requirements (smartcatalogiq.com) and also reviewed on your academic evaluation. If you have any questions regarding the credits earned at TESU to meet the credit hour residency requirement, please reach out to the Student Success Center at enrolled@tesu.edu.

You can submit payment for the residency fee through the online link provided below or by mailing your payment to the address provided.

Have you completed all the courses you need for the 16 residency credits? Or are you still active in classes? If you're still in an active class(es) it won't show you've met residency until the grades post.

Did you take 16 credits with TESU?

That's the residency requirement, or else you must pay $3288 for the residency fee.

I thought it was paying the flat rate, that's all! 16 credit is not possible with 5 courses you reach 15 credits and I still missed one credit.

You need to do 16 credits in the flat-rate term, else you have to pay the waiver fee. Sixteen credits is both the maximum number of credits you can take (without needing extra permission) during a single term and the minimum number of credits necessary to avoid the waiver fee.

If you've got 15 credits, though, you could take one more 1-credit class for ~$500 instead of paying the waiver.

Everyone needs:
SOS-110 Cornerstone 3cr
Capstone 3cr
Then people can take 3 courses or 3 epacks or a mix of them 9cr  (failing an ePack doesn't affect your grade but does affect your earned RA credits)

Finally, take the PLA-100 1cr course, which brings your total credits to 16.

The PLA-100 only lasted one month and took me 5 hours. The whole course is like here read this 1 page and answer the prompt. So if all you are missing is 1cr, saving the residency waiver fee is worth it.

So you mean that the Undergraduate Portfolio Assessment credits counts for the residency requirements ?  And what about If a want to take more credits? Undergraduate Portfolio Assessment fees (Upon completion of the PLA-200 course)

Assessment of up to 12 credits registered in a semester: $401

You would take PLA-100 as a course to get the 1 RA credit, you need to hit 16 credits exactly, not for portfolio assessment.

The other option is the Jane Austin course but they only offer that course certain months of the year and I believe that course is 3 months long verses 1 month for the PLA-100

APS-100 Medical Terminology is also 1 credit though not recommended

My question was from some time ago in the forum everyone states that PLA does not count as residency waiver now you are saying this course will count, from day one I read this exception only applies to a veteran or military condition. In my condition I'm a civil normal person, a hypothesis If someone later what's to another degree can you take 12 credits PLA to comply this requirement.

If you were to write a real portfolio for (say) 9 credits, THAT would not be worth residency credits. You got those credits "elsewhere". However, PLA-100 itself is a class you take from TESU. It counts toward the residency requirements.
