I have an associates degree in criminal justice from my local community college, I graduated in 2014.
My current plan is to pair as many of the 72 or so credits I have from that with whatever remains from Sofia or maybe Study.com, and best case scenario get a bachelors in criminal justice within the next 10-12 months (or faster if possible, I'm open to suggestions).
Looking at my transcript, most of my classes were A's and B's with a couple C's here and there, I don't know which of the classes that I've already taken will transfer to Presque Isle, if any. And I don't want to waste time and money trying to get credits for classes I've already taken if I don't need to. However, more importantly, I'm not 100% sure what classes I need to take anyways. Presque's website only shows the degree specific requirements, not how many english credits, how many math credits, how many science, and so on. And trying to line up the credits on my transcript vs what Presque wants is a little confusing.
Basically my question would be, is UMPI strict on what credits they will transfer from actual colleges? Could I send them a transcript and hear back on what they'll accept before applying? And what specific classes should I try to take to fill out the 90 credit transfer maximum beforehand? I already have seen this thread so I know to take English composition at UMPI, and that I need a lab for one of my science classes. is there another list somewhere of suggested classes to take for my planned degree?
Also, what is a semi-realistic expectation for the number of credits I could complete per "semester" at UMPI and for Sofia/Study.com? Should I expect to finish 5 classes per payment or like 12? I remember that I took about 15 credits/5 classes per semester (5 semesters total) when I got my Associates and that was an very leisurely pace for me at the time.

Most students on this site have been able to complete between 5 and 10 UMPI classes in 7-8 weeks. Speed will depend upon how fast you can write the papers.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

UMPI doesn't evaluate transcripts until you've applied. You can always apply for a future session or postpone your enrollment.

@poifish, Welcome to the board. Eh, great first post introduction and follow up questions! However, you haven't provided enough details for us to actually answer any of your inquires as you may have missed both the template and last post addendum here (or bottom links within my signature, for plans, WIKI, etc): https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...Area-works

In addition to this, we don't know your budget, commitments, study habits, timetable, etc that was asked for in the template and addendum, without a greater overview/picture of your situation, it's hard to provide a concrete answer. From what OP mentioned, and as a general estimate, it may take you just two sessions to complete your UMPI degree since 15 credits/semester in college was 'easy' for you.

Exactly this, apply for free, get your transcripts evaluated for the cost of transcripts. You'll know where you stand, as again, we don't know what you have taken or remain as we don't have that info (did I mention the template/addendum? hmm, oh yeah I did!) - If you know the degree you're looking at, we have degree plans already created for UMPI! Create a spreadsheet and reference/track your progress with it.

Sorry about that, this forum is set up a little differently than I'm used to, I didn't immediately see any area for introduction posts.

What kind of degree do you want?: Given my pre-existing Associates in Criminal Justice, turning that into a Bachelors would likely be the best idea. I'm also open to obtaining a History related degree but probably at a later date. Additionally I would also like to take a foreign language class aside from Spanish if possible, just for my own betterment. Russian, Japanese, or Ukrainian would be of interest but its not a requirement for me, just a nice bonus.
Current Regional Accredited Credits: 74 credits at a local SACSCOC accredited community college.
Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: As far as I'm aware, none, but I did take a class on Russian grammar on coursera once which gave no credits.
Any certifications or military experience? Again, as far as I'm aware, none.
Budget: 2-3k max per semester/session ideally, though I'd prefer it be cheaper than that.
Commitments: I work 12 hour shifts over night 6pm-6am, but I also have 3 and a half days off every week, and can often do studying or light schoolwork while on the job as long as I can put it down and come back to it later. Skype/Zoom sessions are not something I want to partake in.
Dedicated time to study: As stated above, I have 3 and a half, or functionally 4 whole days every week to study.
Timeline: I would like to finish within a year, the faster the better. My purpose of getting a bachelors is to qualify for a work visa in various countries, and I'd like to have it done before the next round of hiring begins which is about a year from now. Once I have a degree, then that box is checked and I can look into branching out further afterwards.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: I have no tuition assistance.
I did come up with a new question after reading the replies however. Can I submit my current transcript (lets guess and say 60 credits are transferred), complete a full session at UMPI, and then submit a second transcript from Sofia or an equivalent to get to the full 90 transferrable credits before taking my second (hopefully final) session?

You could post your specific credits here for a bit more insight. You can also search previous transfer equivalencies in this database, and maybe find your CC in it: https://mainestreetcs.maine.edu/psp/CSPR..._GUEST.GBL?
The YourPace CJ program at UMPI requires a 100-hour field experience. History & Polisci could potentially be faster overall, but depends on your passion and interests.
