UMPI MAOL vs WGU MSML?

Fair enough. My approach was simple right from the start of the program to ask:

What courses in my degree transfer into the MAOL?
Can I exchange any of the courses for additional courses in the MAOL?
Is there a better option other than the BABA in Management and Leadership for transfer courses into the MAOL?

In my experience, UMPI is not a gatekeeper with information and is very forthcoming in supporting your aspirations.

All of this was more out of curiosity since I did not have the MAOL high on my list; however, it did provide some insight into what degree and courses provided additional value if I decided to proceed with the MAOL program.

Knowing what degree helps or classes transfer in the MAOL is on the student. If you are not resourceful with these degrees, you are the only one to blame. Plenty of posts in the forum break down the information in detail.

UMPI doesn't really make this info easily available. I was accepted into the program and still wasn't made aware of the classes transferring from my undergrad degree. I only found out after I decided to go elsewhere from ashkir when he was in the program. He wasn't made aware at the beginning either. I think he had completed 2 courses when he was told. Keep in mind that most of the world doesn't read this forum and you have to know what to search for.

So I will say this, and I truly value what everyone is saying as I am about to go into the MAOL and this is after taking a semester to complete my BA at UMPI with the residence 10 classes needed and then took an extra 4 courses (bad idea to take more than you need thinking maybe one day you will go back for another bachelors as the finance killed my GPA), but I was able to get 9 credits to transfer over to MAOL. And yes everyone is correct, unless you ask Jessica and the team word for word what you want you are not going to find it anywhere or given anywhere. They also were going to remodel the entire learning system and go to brightspace but are staying on the same platform. They are suppossed to redo the classes from much feedback, but assume that still means writting, writting, writting. And competency that is a killer that doesnt count towards your grade.

Some that transfer over, or at least 3 I took in undergrad this past semester that are as follows:

BUS 353 - Legal and Ethical issues in Business - Transfers into OLS 520 - Democracy and ethical leadership
BUS 440 - Business Analytics - OLS 600 - Leading Organizational Change
BUS 469 - Strategic Professional Communication - OLS 620 - Strategic Communication

So you can actualy go into the program with 3 classes out of the 12 and needing 9. At least 3 semesters I am thinking, but thats just a thought.

Who says the MAOL is cheaper? It's $2K per session. The chances of someone completing it in 2 sessions is extremely slim. Yes, there was 1 person who did it, but they used a great deal of their work documentation in several courses which isn't going to be a possibility for most people. Not on that level as I believe he owned his own company and was the CEO. 

I've scoured the forum trying to find additional information regarding this mystery person that completed it in two sessions, but was unable to find any. Do you happen to know any more specifics?

Or, perhaps a better question, for anybody that's completed the program, would be: How exactly does one's work documentation help accelerate the writing requirements of all these leadership classes?

I completed the WGU MSML in under two months. I chose it because it was the cheapest/easiest option. I don't know too much about the MAOL but from when I researched it it seemed like it was much more work than the WGU MSML.

Yeah, that seems to track. I guess I just got excited about the idea of being able to recycle my many years of business writings into an advanced degree.

From all accounts, the program consists of extensive writing assignments, and some have shared that there were UMPI MAOL courses more intense than some of the doctorate-level courses that followed.

As often expressed here, don't let someone else's ability influence your ability's reality. What's not talked about in this forum enough is how many people sign up for a program from any of the schools listed and never graduate. There are far more of those untold stories than the fun, cool 'Finished in XX Months' stories.

And the folks who take 4 years to complete their bachelor's degree from WGU are rarely heard from. Same with their master's degree students. 

For example, according to WGU's website 73% of students who begin the master's I'm starting on Monday will complete their degree in 18 months. That means 27% either never graduate or take longer than 18 months. I am shooting for 6 months. Will it happen? We will see! I'm on a Facebook group for my degree and there are a few who have completed the degree in 6 months or less, but it's far from the norm. 

When I first enrolled at UMPI, the average student completed 2-3 courses per session! That number has been skewed because of us. Most people don't transfer in with a boatload of credit like we do. Most people don't complete their degree in 1 or 2 sessions like many of us have. Most people are taking a few years or longer. I have yet to see someone post on here that they spent 4 years completing a degree since finding the forum. Surely, someone has taken 4 years because they're doing this part time and have other priorities in life.
