That's great, generally, for most courses it's not necessary to take both of the possible requirements, so, not many people would have taken both of these to reply. You most likely took that HUM184 because you had extra free electives and wanted to hit up the residency requirement. It's best to create an action plan for your degree and stick to that degree plan... Use that spreadsheet/wiki as a reference and for tracking your progress purposes...

Personal preference but I found ENG 151 Intro to Literature is a very hard class because perhaps I am not a native English and the poem, short story, drama play are too hard for me to digest ( I am still taking the class this term). But for English people who like literature, this class will be a blast, I suppose.

Do you have a suggestion how to learn literature for non native English who never knew Western literature before? I found the poem/story/drama are hard to grasp and my milestones always got wrong. I withdraw from the class this term. Thank you.(10-19-2023, 01:45 AM)lala25 Wrote: Has anyone taken ENG 151 or Hum 184? If so, which would you prefer, and which is faster? territorial io

It's a bit late, but the only real way to learn these topics better (for any language) would be to consume more of that genre. So someone studying English would need to read more English poetry, drama, etc. Someone studying German would need to read more German poetry, drama, etc.
For other students in the future, there are a number of literature courses on Modern States that might be helpful to pre-study before starting at UMPI. https://modernstates.org/course/

Is this for 2D of the GEC? If yes, then Visual Communications from Sophia is an option. If it's for 2E of the GEC, then Art History 1 or 2 from Sophia are options.
