Hey everyone, I couldn't find a definitive answer on this topic, so I thought I'd seek your insights.
When I enrolled in my local community college, they informed me that my previous credits from another college were no longer valid due to their age (over 10 years old). Consequently, I never considered using those older credits and have been taking Sophia courses intensively to accumulate 90 credits before my UMPI start date on May 8th.
Interestingly, found out just today that UMPI has accepted my older credits, which my community college had previously rejected. So I went way overboard on my Sophia courses, since they accepted 76 credits from my previous schools! lolol
So, my question: Does UMPI's acceptance of my old credits effectively "refresh" them? If I apply to another college in the future, will they accept these credits based on UMPI's decision, or will they refer to the original source/original date earned?
I'm currently in the BYU-Pathways program for a year, which will allow me to enroll in BYU-Idaho at a reduced cost of $79 per credit. So I'm curious if I can rely on using those older credits again when I enroll at BYU-Idaho.
I understand that it's best to ask BYU-Idaho directly, but since my enrollment there is still a year away, I thought I'd explore your opinions on this matter.
Sorry for the long post, and thanks for all that you guys do!

You're at the mercy of BYU-Idaho and their transfer policies, they'll go with the original source, not what UMPI provides you. Having UMPI take these courses is similar to what COSC, Excelsior, and TESU does, they take older credit as long as it is not in the major - area of study. BTW, I really like the BYU Pathways program, I wrote about this program a few months ago here: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...ad-Options

Thank you! I kind of figured that BYU-Idaho is pretty particular about their transfers, so I am fully prepared to do all from scratch. Hopefully they'll take the old-status credits, but meh, I'll do whatever work I gotta do.
And wow, I didn't even think to look up the BYU Pathway program on here because I didn't figure there would be any info on it!!! I recently found out about it because of my local church (I'm Latter-day Saint), and I was amazed at how good the program sounds because of the tuition carryover!
My start day for that is April 17. After completing it, my BYU-Idaho tuition will be cheaper than my local Colorado community college!
But honestly, I shoulda checked here, cuz you this forum has so much knowledge. I'm checking out that thread right now.
Thanks to everyone here, and especially power users like yourself, my entire life is changing!
You guys rock!

UMPI DOES accept older credits in the major! I had courses from 1993 transfer into my major.

UMPI accepting your credits does not "refresh" them; each college has their own policies in what they will accept.
When I went to TESU, there was no limit to how old your credits could be, except in the AoS (which had a 10year age limit, up to 9cr older than that can be accepted). So I had some credits that were almost 30 years old and they were accepted with no problems.

While BYU, or any other school, will consider the original credits and not UMPI's (or any other school's) acceptance of them, if you complete things in the order of your signature, what BYU-Idaho may well be willing to consider is the UMPI degree as a whole. It's not uncommon for an existing bachelors to waive requirements, particularly general education ones, for a 2nd one that a course-by-course evaluation may not have waived.
BYU will still do whatever it decides meets their policies, of course, but the existing undergraduate degree will be part of their evaluation, not just credits.

Thank you for that! And yep, I plan to go in the order I've got listed in my goals, so hopefully, it works out. Thanks for the insights!
