Hello all,
My search continues for affordable CBE options, but now at the graduate level. UMPI's MAOL is a popular option but the UMass Global MyPath MAOL is very attractive at the $3,800/6 month cost, especially for those that may not be able to complete the UMPI MAOL in 1-2 terms. There seems to be very little substantive conversation about UMass Global's MAOL and I hoping to change that.
Does anyone have experience in this program? Has anyone taken classes in 2025? It's my understanding that the UMass Global MAOL was moved to the D2L platform and I am curious how/if this changed their curriculum or delivery at all. Would love some insight on how those courses are delivered, what the workload expectation is, etc.
I applied to the program just to learn about the process, and they were pretty generous with transferring in the maximum 9 hours of graduate credit I had from another degree.
Thanks in advance,
J

I was under the impression the UMass MAOL is more intensive than the current UMPI MAOL. The original UMPI MAOL used the same platform that UMASS currently uses, and users have completed in a few months, so it may be doable. Those that did also said it had a ton of writing.
That being said, I called them to get information about completion rate, but they really wouldn’t tell me much of anything.

At one point, I was trying to find information on UMass Global Mypath MAOL, but there was barely any information. From my understanding, the classes are mainly paper writing, with multiple assignments and a final paper. It is indeed similar to UMPI, but no one has shared their experience with UMass Global; it does seem more appealing as they give you six months to complete the work, but it's still a blank unknown area as to how long it will take to speed run the program since no one has provided insight on their experience doing the degree. The safest bet would be to go for UMPI MAOL as people have sped up the degree in one term if done correctly by devoting the necessary time to complete the assignments and mapping out their plan in advance.

I don't think you'll find a lot of people in any UMass Global program for the simple fact that many people try to avoid programs with Global in the name because that's a hint that it's an online program. There are still employers out there who will not hire someone with an online degree because they're stuck in 1960. UMPI has a proven track record and a there's a very active Discord for students who need resources. UMPI is an actual state university with a campus so your degree doesn't give the appearance of an online degree. This is important for many international students as online degrees are highly frowned upon in some countries.

Umass has concentrations like project management, I believe. I am looking at cheap grad school myself. My plan was to use the ASU certificate and transfer it to liberty university since i get a veteran discount of $275/credit.... But that may not happen now. Now i need to reevaluate grad school to find a cheap route with a broad relevant degree. Any suggestions are great ... Yay

If a for-profit regionally accredited school does not scare you away, Capella University offers several programs through its Flexpath program, which costs around $2800 for a 12-week competency-based education membership. You can speed run the degree in 12 weeks, mainly paper writing and PowerPoints. They offer an MBA with different specializations such as healthcare management, Human resources, project management, and general. They also offer a master's in Human resources specializing in healthcare management or general. In health sciences, they offer a Master of Health Administration. If you want to study psychology, they offer a Masters degree in Psychology with different specializations, including general, child and adolescent development, educational psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, and sports psychology. All programs can be completed within 12 weeks. I have researched Reddit, and there seem to be good reviews of people speed-running the Flexpath degrees. You might be able to get a scholarship, and if you are or were in the military, they may offer a military discount. Also, if you have graduate credits, they accept transfer credits.

People have complained that they have had trouble accelerating at Capella U before, but I cant speak to if that is still the case. WGU is a safe bet.

I graduated from with my first Master's degree in 2012 at Capella. This was common practice for them. After I took the same class several times I some how magically passed with an A. They did this to extend my time to get more money. I wouldn't be surprised if they still engaged in the same practice.
I graduated with my second Master's degree from American Public University. I graduated in less than a year and received a veteran's family discount.

I can’t speak on the school directly or the experience of others. I found these Reddit threads , people recently speak on their ability to finish the degree within 12 weeks so my assumption is things have changed with the flex path program.

Amberton has a master's in agile project management, an MBA in project management, and graduate certificates in agile project management and project management. Tuition is $300 per credit. It's an RA private Christian university without any religion in courses.
