My brother received this message from a tesu academic advisor
Quote:Study.com's "Business 106: Human Resource Management" will transfer in as MAN-331. However, this will not satisfy an Area of Study requirement as it is not in Liberal Arts. Your Area of Study courses must be from Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Science/Mathematics, or Liberal Studies. Please use this link to review courses in those categories. Thomas Edison State University | Semester List
I assumed that because MAN-331 is listed under
one of the liberal studies concentrations that it would be considered a liberal studies course. Why is it a LS course if you take the human resources mgmt. concentration, but not one if you don't have a concentration (option A)? Either way you get a BA in LS. Is this something he should challenge/appeal to them on? It's listed under Management
here which might be the sticking point for them, I guess.

That's a little concerning about them excluding business courses. I had started the human resources course on study.com and was planning to use it in my AOS for UL credit. I think I'll have to rethink that now. Let us know if you appeal it and what they say.

It's always worth appealing. The worst they can say is no.

Business courses have always been excluded from the BALS (except as Free Electives). So their new BSPS having those options is going to throw then off! Then add the new concentrations in the BALS. TESU always has problems with the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing in general, so having new degrees with different options will be a killer.
I would definitely appeal it, but honestly, I don't have a lot of hope that you can get them to change their minds. A lot of the problem is going to be getting this question to the correct person (high enough up to actually have a brain and listen to you). Not sure who that is, but it definitely is going to be hard to get through to them.
Good luck though!

I got this academic appeals email on a thread from early last year but we got a kickback email saying
Quote:Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:
academicappeals@tesu.edu
Your message couldn't be delivered. Despite repeated attempts to contact the recipient's email system it didn't respond.
Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that their email system isn't accepting connection requests from your email system. Give them the error details shown below. It's likely that the recipient's email admin is the only one who can fix this problem.
I couldn't find this email on tesu's website, only one for grad students; is it not current anymore?. Should he just send the appeal to the registrar or academic advising?
