With the changes in residency requirement at TESU I am debating skipping the PLA Portfolio I had planned and using DSST, TECEPs and SL to meet the remaining 18 credits I need for the Social Science area of my BA.SS.
Specifically I need 12 UL credits at the 300-400 level. An additional 6 credits can be LL (thinking Marriage & Family TECEP, and maybe a World/Western Civ SL).
So for the 12 UL:
I was looking at the Substance Abuse DSST, but am a bit nervous about this statement " This exam was updated April 1, 2016 and includes new content and content outlines reviewed by the American Council on Education (ACE)". I read the http://www.degreeforum.net/general-educa...april.html page. Anyone have an idea how much it has changed? Or better yet, anyone planning on taking Substance Abuse in the near future?
As for Fundamentals of Counseling DSST, I have been reading old threads where it was used as UL Psych equivalency -- is that still the case?
Then maybe finish up with Abnormal Psych TECEP and Saylor Corporate Communication...?
Other suggestions welcome!

The Counseling DSST is LL (both at ACE, and at TESU). I show it coming in as COU-262. I would check with TESU before taking it.
Corporate Communication is UL, but Comm courses are considered Humanities, not SocSci. So you will want to take something else instead.

Fundamentals of Counseling transferred in as COU-262 for me (earlier this year). When I inquired at the school about it being listed as PSY-331 in the past, they told me that was an old policy, and it only counts as lower level now.
The Abnormal Psychology TECEP is upper level. DSST Substance Abuse, Organizational Behavior, History of the Vietnam War, History of the Soviet Union.
For lower level social sciences, your options are almost limitless. There are numerous TECEPs, DSST exams, and SL courses that would count.

Thank you both! I love the search function, but sometimes it can get hopes up (seeing older more generous policies used) with suggestions that are no longer valid.

I've taken SL's Org. Behavior. And am not a dates-in-history lover, which leaves out Vietnam & Soviet Union. So I guess that leaves Substance Abuse as my only UL DSST option. If I wait until after my summer CC course is over there might be more input on whatever DSST changes have been made, or I can be the df guinea pig .
So I'm back to needing 9 UL Social Science/Sociology credits on a very tight budget (I eventually have to take the Capstone @ $1560.00). Is my cheapest bet just to do the 3 UL Psych courses at Study.com?
