Last Wednesday, I went in to take the World Religions DSST test. It had been over a year since my last DSST test and I completely forgot that I needed my username and password. I tried doing many combinations but nothing worked.
The proctor had to call the DSST test center, they had to talk to me, get my social security number and put me on hold for TEN MINUTES until finally giving me my username and e-mail address so I could log in.
I went to log in...it didn't work. I reset my password...it didn't work. I reset it again...it didn't work. I kept typing thinking that maybe I was doing something wrong and FINALLY got in! I sat down to my test AN ENTIRE HOUR LATER.
So. I now know my username and password without a doubt!
I go to sign in at home on the prometric site to see my test scores....and voila!! I'm having the same problems signing in!!!
Is anyone else having this problem?? Because I REALLY don't want to go through all of that again every time I want to take a DSST test!

I've had the same problem and ended up making up a new user id and password. Fortunately, all of my tests did show up at TESC when I asked for a transcript with my social security number. Don't know about site as I never used it. Good luck.

One thing I have noticed when launching DSST exams -- the screen will basically "lock down" if it has been open for too long without anyone signing in. When you were put on hold to locate your username/password, your proctor should have closed out of the testing window and allowed you to sign in on a fresh screen. I don't know why you would have had a problem at home, though. I have had candidates insist that they know their username/password, can't get signed in and don't want to be put on hold, so they create a new user registration page. If I check later with DSST, I find out what they show for the candidate and here they were "off" by one character. It only takes the slightest difference for you to not get in. If you have problems at home, call DSST during their phone hours and they should be able to help you get signed in.

They are talking about logging in at the test center - you can only log in at home to check scores, not take the tests.

I'm signed up to take my first DSST exam on 5/4. Do they set up all that information while I'm there? They didn't ask me for a username or password or anything over the phone when I scheduled it.

I set it all up at the test center - I am not sure if you can do it ahead of time.

It is set up the day of the test, and while it might be nice if you remembered the password, e-mail, etc., don't worry if you don't. It's needed if you want to print up the results, but it doesn't matter if you've used 3 or 4 passwords (I have!) when it comes to the transcripts. Your proctor, if it's anything like mine, fiddles with the PC, has you type in name, etc., proctor fiddles again, and you take the test.

You can choose to get yourself "registered" with DSST at home before testing or at the test center on the day of your first exam. Just go to ibt.prometric.com/dsst, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select "first time registration", make sure you designate that this registration is for "DSST" (not DSST Practice Tests, or DSST Military, etc.) and then complete the registration form assigning yourself a user name and password, along with filling in all information that you know (you will probably not know the test center code where you plan to test). Please, please, please make sure you are entering a DSST score recipient code for your school and NOT the CLEP code -- this is not the same thing at all and your results will not go where you want them to! Once you are logging in at your test center, make sure that you ask the proctor for their test center number as DSST needs to know where you actually took the test.
I always suggest to candidates to keep their user name as basic as possible -- first and last name separated by a period or the underscore. Once you are done filling out the form, it will tell you if that name was not acceptable (usually means someone else already took that user name). As long as you can remember that user name, it is very easy to reassign a new password no matter where you are -- home, test center, new test center... by just entering your user name and answering the security question that you selected when you registered. There is no reason at all to have several user names and passwords floating around unless you also take the DSST practice tests (where you need a completely different user name, but can use the same password).
What is to keep you from taking your DSST exam in the comfort of your home since you can set up the registration page there? The proctor has to actually log in with their unique user name and password before you can enter your form of payment. Without this log in and your payment going through, no exam will be delivered.
