Hey Guys,
I was wondering if some of those who are done with thier degrees can post
THE TOTAL ESTIMATED AMOUNT spent on getting their bachelors whether its from the BIG 3 or includes some other college. This should include the clep/dantes/ECE/TECEP exams. Please also list the college you attended.

local college classes: 5 credits, $400
TECEP exam: 3 credits, $250
FEMA: 1 credit, $0
Credit for courses taught: 27 credits, $0
CLEP/DSST credit: 57 credits, 16 exams w/ testing center fees $1500

Thanks Guys
That is sooo insightful. It gives us a better picture of what to expect.
Can anybody from EC or Cosc take a shot at this?

This is my estimate of my cost will be when I am done, so most of these numbers are approximate:
Excelsior enrollment & application fees: $1026
FEMA stuff:$450 ish
Exam fees (includes proctor fee) $1195
Books; $300 ish
graduation fees $400-$500? Not exactly sure
gas, printer ink, misc stuff like that: $300 ish
Franklin College way back when : $4000 (got a grant, that's what I paid in student loans)
Total: $7771 --Give a wide margin of error though, I am pretty much throwing out estimates off the top of my head.

I was going to leave this one alone because I am in the military and get a pretty good deal as far as education expenses go. But, Candothis asked, so here it is:
$75 TESC application fee
$150 Net cost for books for 4 TESC courses (I sold most of them back)
$160 8 months of Instant Cert (so far)
$300 Random books (REA, Dummies, and others that I bought for TECEPs)
$240 What I will pay for graduation fee (hopefully soon)
$0 12 CLEPs, 6 DSSTs, 3 TECEPs, and 1 ECE.
$925 Total
Getting a bachelor's degree for under $1000, priceless.

dont let these numbers fool you, joining the military to go to college is not a good idea, if you want to go to college, then go to college. If you want to be in the military, join the military. If you are in the military or going into the military anyways then try to go to college while you are in, but be ready to fight for those benefits. they make it extra difficult to accomplish these task plus it is rare for you to work less than 12 hours a day. I joined the military to go to college, with out websites like this one, I would still be dreaming about an AS, with this help I am about half way through my Masters. In other words, the dollar amount was low but the opportunity cost was huge.
