Took classes at 2 community colleges and getting an ace transcript
#1
Okay so my TESU evaluation has been done lately. Something I'm confused about per my conversation with the advisor is that it was implied I must pay an enrollment fee and be enrolled in a class for at least 10 days to be considered an enrolled student because I previously took classes at 2 schools (thanks to the max of 2 transcripts being evaluated with the application fee). Something I'm wondering about is if this is a setback as far as doing straighterline classes and such (and therefore also a setback to having my ace transcript sent in), or if I simply need to sign up for a TECEP and therefore be considered enrolled. Is there a separate enrollment fee if I do the per credit plan, and is it okay to still take straighterline classes and just have my ace transcript sent in later or must I wait to take ace classes, uexcel exams, etc. After doing a TECEP or so? I hope this makes sense what I'm asking.

You can wait until later to send your transcripts in, although I always found it motivating to see those transfer credits appear in my TESU evaluation. Another thing to think about is if you don't enroll before July, the catalog might change on you. There's no separate enrollment fee for the per credit option.

The answer to your other question is yes, you can enroll in the per credit option, then sign up for a TECEP. So long as you take at least one TECEP (or PLA or class) each year, you'll stay enrolled and keep the same catalog. They'll send reminders so you don't accidentally let your enrollment lapse.

Does the waiting until later to send in transcripts also apply if I take say a uexcel or other exams?

There is no enrollment fee, you will automatically be enrolled in the per-credit tuition plan starting around March 10th (10 days after a new term starts, I think). Then, you will have 12 months to pass a TECEP (not just sign up, but pass, and you need to be careful about waiting too long to register for a TECEP). You are enrolled under the 2016 catalog, so you should start working on getting your degree plan worked out with that information.

They will evaluate more than 2 transcripts, not sure that there is a max, I've never heard of that one (although I certainly could be wrong). When I applied, I had transcripts from 4 schools, ACE, CLEP and DSST and they evaluated everything.

Regarding Straighterline, you can have those sent to ACE, but you can also have them sent directly to TESU, who is a partner college. I would do both. Any other courses you might take that are ACE-approved can be sent to ACE, and then you can send that transcript in whenever you'd like (I normally like to wait, as it costs money to send, plus they take about 4 weeks to evaluate).

Your UExcel will also be sent in separately on an EC/UExcel transcript. They are not through ACE.

You can wait to start taking TECEP's, although I recommend starting sooner rather than later. For whatever reason, people seem scared of TECEP's, but so far I haven't found that to be the case. Just sign up and take an easy one, and get it over with! I recommend Applied Math or Technical Writing first.
