Read somewhere that Thomas Edison does not allow you to use Vietnam War DSST as an upper level credit for your area Concentration (18 upper level credits) even though they list the course as HIS351. Does anyone have experience with this? Have you received credit for this? I applied and was accepted to Thomas Edison, but I have not registered because according to the degree plan I've devised, I need 13 DSSTs and the capstone. I want to get a few more DSSTs finished so I make sure I can pay for one year only. But this means I can't get my plan approved yet. That's why I'm looking if anyone has used this test as an upper level so I can move forward and take it. Thanks for considering. Any related advice also welcome.

I'm not at TESC, but common sense applies, If you are taking a BA in History then the DSST Vietnam War will apply. If you are taking a business degree it may apply towards an elective but you'll need business credits to account for your concentration. So what is your degree in? That way others who have taken it will be able to give you a response.
Don't forget that gaining college credit by taking exams is one of the reason's we're here. That's mainly possible through the flashcards made available by the owner of this forum :

Liberal Studies. yes, it seems logical that it would be applied as upper level concentration credits for this degree, and I was planning accordingly. I can't find where I read that it did not apply, perhaps it was with a different major, but just in case it was going to be a problem, thought I'd find the people who would know here. thanks.

They just applied my Vietnam War DSST for 3 credits in my concentration, and last time I talked to my advisor it was counted as UL credit. Civil War and Reconstruction isn't, but it can go into your concentration anyway.

It is opposite at Excelsior. Vietnam is lower and Civil war is upper. Off topic but interesting.
