If it is true, it would make TESC the cheapest option out of the Big 3. For a BSBA with no capstone, it will only be $864. For a degree with a capstone, it will be $1551.
I think it is correct because their website says "NOTE: Students who select the Per Credit Tuition Plan with the intention of graduating from Thomas Edison State College have academic residency requirements of 12 credits for an associate degree and 24 credits for a bachelor's degree. Residency requirements are met by earning credits via Thomas Edison State College Online (OL), Guided Study (GS) or e-Pack (EP) courses, TECEP exams (TE) or Portfolio Assessment (PA)" on this page Thomas Edison State College: Selecting the Right Tuition Plan
TESU BA June 2018.
Various business certificates still to do.

That is what I read that prompted me to mention using TECEPs to meet the residency requirements on the first page, but they never make it clear that you can get away with only spending $864 for your degree. The chart only addresses course tuition which is $476 per credit hour. I'm still going to try talking to the registrar, bursar, financial aid, or whoever understands the tuition rates in conjunction with the residency requirements. If it's true, then that's great, and it makes TESC the cheapest of the Big 3. It still sounds too good to be true.

I'm guessing that this is indeed the case, but primarily because TESC hadn't considered that students would use TECEPs to meet the residency requirements and then test out of everything else without taking any TESC courses (or just the capstone). I just don't think it occurred to them.

I just went to their Tuition and Fees page and it looks like it has been revised again and this is what it now says---
Quote:Tuition and Fees
2013-2014 Tuition and Fees
For non-nursing undergraduate degree programs only
(effective Oct. 1, 2013 through Sept. 30, 2014)
Application fee:_____________$75.00
Tuition (per credit):__________$250.00 per credit
TECEP tuition (per credit):____$33.00 per credit
Graduation fee:_____________$290.00
*Tuition and fees are subject to change
Participants pay the application fee at the time of application. The tuition is paid at the time of course registration. Text and materials are extra and cost varies per course. Students can order textbooks and course materials directly from MBS Direct at: (800) 325-3252.
Important Note:
Active duty military personnel who enroll in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program will pay the nursing program tuition rate.
Active duty military personnel who enroll in the graduate-level degree programs will pay the graduate tuition rate.
**If your TA Voucher has not yet been authorized, you are still able to reserve a place in the course. Please send the TA as soon as you have it to ta@tesc.edu or fax to (609) 984-7143. While we are holding a place on your behalf, you will not be registered for your course(s) until your TA Voucher has been submitted.
There is no longer anything about two different plans and or any mention of residency requirements. If this is the case, TESC may have just became super inexpensive.

That's a military link (see the address). Per credit is still at its old link: Per Credit Tuition Plan
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

I'm also thinking that if this is true, then it was an oversight by TESC. They probably thought they could just jack up the course prices to make up the difference. They might be taking another look at this if they feel they are losing too much money on TECEPs. Although, there is the possibility they aren't concerned about this since it seems like so many of their students are afraid of CBEs.

Yes I think it is correct I also sent an email and they said... "The Per Credit Tuition Plan will not require that you submit an annual enrollment fee. TECEPs will cost an out-of-state resident $36 per credit attempt. Yes, you may register for TECEPs to meet your residency requirements under this plan." This is great news!

I am currently 12 semester credit hours away from fulfilling TESC's BA in Psych degree requirements, 6 of which I plan to earn directly from TESC (capstone + Theory of Personality e-pack). I also have a BSBA roadmapped and am wondering if I might be able to kill two birds with one stone by fulfilling the 24 credit residency requirement of the BSBA through the Per Credit Tuition Plan and just the 6 credits for the BA in Psych, or if I will be required to fulfill the 24 credit residency requirement for each degree. Anyone have any insight into this?
To date: Transferred 60 credits in from B&M colleges, earned 57 credits by examination in 6 mos, aced the capstone to earn a BA in Psychology.

Sorry to bump and old thread. Was this post accurate? That I can do pay per credit tuition and take 8 Tecep tests to get the requirement?
