Hello Everybody,
This is my first post, and honestly guess I just need a kick in the behind, or some support...Am working on LPN to RN, scheduled to test for Intro Sociology next Fri...
I have a ways to go in pre-reqs, have passed 3 psychologies, and am really struggling w/Sociology...I have taken the Peterson's practice test, studied TCN guide, and also Instacert. I guess maybe just test anxiety.
Anyways, just need a little prayer and hope I can pass this exam, then plan to start some actual Nsg. material, and leave the pre-reqs alone for a while.
I read a lot of the posts and you guys are just great. Thanks for all you write.

good luck with sociology! it's easier said than done but try your best to not be so nervous about it. if you've been studying with all that stuff, you should be fine

If you passed the Psych tests Sociology should be doable. Alot of the terms are alike. I would suggest getting the CLEP study guide because it had practice tests for all CLEPs.

Hi Jasmine, welcome to the the boards
I am totally new too, I just took Intro to Sociology yesterday, it was hard for me. I don't know if I feel like it was because it was harder than the Psych clep, or because I didn't study as hard for it. Maybe I got too confident after I took the Psych clep and figured I didn't have to put in as much time. There were a lot of questions I had to straight up guess on.
I studied the instantcert flashcards in random order for a few hours, and read the Sparksnotes for sociology cover to cover, and there was still a LOT of material on the test I had never seen. Like the term "pink collar work." I didn't come across that term at all and maybe everyone else knows what that is, but I don't, or I didn't, now I do, lol.
I still did okay, but I could have easily failed too. I think studying from a few different sources would be a great idea. Maybe go to B&N and spend a few hours flippin' through the Soc books, looking for things you haven't covered.
I think you'll be fine, remember it's all really basic material, you just have to study.

Don't worry to much. If I can pass the Intro Sociology CLEP, I think anyone can. All I used was Instant Cert and Petersons.
Good luck!

I feel your pain. My wife is a nurse and I know how difficult it is to juggle that kind of schedule.
Which school are you attending?

Hey Ron,
I have been an LPN since I was 20 yrs. old, so long ago!!!!! Worked in Operating Rm for 8 yrs. then married, stay @ home mom for 19 yrs. then the big D....back to work, Dr.'s offices, etc...am presently working in a state institution for the MR, but my particular specialty is behaviors.
I am doing the work of an RN, and decided, even though I am old, I should be getting paid for it...therefore, signed up w/TCN, and enrolled w/EC in the fall to avoid all the extra classes for nurses....
It is very difficult to work full-time, esp. the 12 hr. shifts, and then come home and feel like studying, but I am determined to do it...
I have a ways to go, but the good Lord willing I will get there.
Give your wife an extra hug tonight...she is very special...
