Thanks for great advice, just need some MBA direction

Rachel thank you for your reply, I know someone is going to send me a message saying why do you keep on asking questions so I apologize in advance. If I take all of the courses at Sophia minus the three that you outlined I would have earned over 90 credits from Sophia and would be transferring in an additional 22 credits but I can only use 67 credits from Sophia correct?

This is where I'm confused.

Also many people have said it's significantly more difficult to take the courses out of sequence, I've seen the course mapping matrix that you forwarded thanks by the way, very helpful Any suggestion on how I get help understanding which courses to take when?

Also other alternatives on different platforms for example algebra on Sophia looks extremely difficult they suggest getting a tutor. I'm just using Sophia as one example of a situation where a person might want to look at another alternative.

It seems that there's a lot of tribal knowledge on the forum and it takes a lot of q&a to get to the information.

Rachel I forgot to ask you wrote take ALL the Sophia courses regardless of major or school, so I would take History, Psy, Math, and the other classes I would be transferring in?

I'm not sure where you got this number 67 from. It heavily, HEAVILY depends on which school you choose. For UMPI, it would be around 60 credits from Sophia (you need a lab science and a foreign language; Sophia does NOT have these). For TESU, it would be around 70-75 credits from Sophia. But this depends on your choice of degree. You would need American Government from InstantCert and your UL credits at Study.com.

The "out of order" only applies to the courses you see on the wiki. The others can be taken in any order.

You could take Algebra at ASU. The cost for that would be $425 but you can try it out for free to see if you like it. TEL Learning also has Algebra for $200 but that might be more difficult than ASU.  StraighterLine has both Algebra and Statistics. They have a coupon right now that would make one of those classes about $100. Suggestions for other classes would depend on the subject.

I said "all" because you still haven't nailed down a school or a major. Each Sophia course meets different requirements at different schools. You do not need to take US History I because you already have that from your B&M school. I think you've already taken Intro to Psychology, too. If so, don't take that again at Sophia.

Yes, the link is not working. I tried signing out, but no joy.

I will either have to call the schools and send in my info or hire someone to provide specific help.

I was REALLY jazzed about doing this, but these 3 days have been REALLY deflating.

I spent 20 hours on Sophia courses I did not need to take:Sad

I called Pierpont and spoke to the women who runs the Governors AA program (quite a few details she shared that were very helpful)

Thanks  Huh

There is an issue with the website, skip all the posts and links until you get to the degree template page on post #28 and #31. My final post should also have a link referencing those, unfortunately, no one can read my final post if they're logged into DegreeForum, but the post exists if you do not log into degree forum. The two links to my spreadsheets are available there...

But wanting to know which UL courses to take before you've chosen a school... that definitely doesn't work.

I think this is where I am getting lost. Are you saying use Sophia for whatever LL classes you can (Easier format, people seem to do well with it, etc..), BUT I will need to determine which school I want to attend to know which LL credits I will need?

If so, are these some LL classes I will need REGARDLESS of which school I choose, so take those as Sophia 1st?

Pierpont AA, I will need 64 LL credits, and it does not matter which ones?

Thanks!!

Got it, seems you have used SL, Study.com, and Sohpia, which provided the most digestible information?

Sit down, read the information, retain the information and complete the task/exam?

We are trying to provide you with specific help. But you still have not confirmed WHICH school and WHICH degree you actually want. dfrecore has told you how to do COSC. bjcheung77 has suggestions for TESU. I've told you either TESU or UMPI and given directions for each. You could pay someone a few thousand dollars and you would STILL be having these issues.

I understand that you are excited and that excitement can make comprehension difficult. But you need to slow down and actually read the advice and information that you've been given. Read the wiki. Given your responses, I am not sure that you have actually read that much. It's a lot to take in, yes, and there can be information overload. But, as we've stated from the beginning, you really need to make some choices before we can help you.

There is no generic degree plan.
There is no one-size-fits-all advice.

If you really must, just flip a coin or throw darts at a dartboard or something. Getting a degree is a major life decision and we cannot and will not tell you which one you MUST choose. An ethical freelance degree advisor wouldn't make this decision for you either.

Yes and no. The Foundations courses are worthless (Pierpont will take them, the other schools will not), as is College Readiness. I did PM you a list of which Sophia courses you NEED (there were only 3 or 4, I think) and the rest literally do not matter when it comes to Pierpont. You CAN do everything and they WILL be accepted at Pierpont... but these choices may not be accepted anywhere else.

This is as close as you're going to get: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/So...lency_List

You need Ethics (take Greek Philosophers first) and you need Public Speaking. Beyond that, it depends on school & degree. You may need US History II. You may not. You might need both Art History courses. They might be a waste. You WILL need English Composition II but we really do not recommend that you take the one through Sophia unless you want to get discouraged.

Literally everything else may or may not be an elective, depending on both school and degree.

I'm not sure that is a fair assessment. I have read EVERY word, but to be too honest, I have gotten contradictory answers. (For example) I have asked a very specific question, i.e., Should use Sophia for ALL LL credit, one day the answer is yes, then next is it school-specific.  It is clear that I seem to have annoyed you, which is not my intent, so I will end with that and thank you for your help.

The easy answer, until you make a decision, is to just take everything Sophia has to offer (except Foundations and College Readiness). Due to the ease of using Sophia and their low cost, taking an extra course or two requires very little investment and wastes little time.

If I currently have 23.5, I would need to take 67 Sophia courses, correct? If so, which ones do I take based on what I previously shared?

I don't want to take 10 more courses than needed.

It depends on what school you want to go to as to what will be accepted, as well as the degree you want.

In general, I would take the business courses since you want an MBA later, they'll count for Free Electives at any school.  Macro and Micro econ both are required for a BSBA, and they'll count as GE courses.  I'd probably give all of the math courses a shot, since you'll need Stats knowledge later.  Foundations won't help though at most schools.  Ethics is required everywhere, so I'd take that.  I heard that you should take the Greek Philosophers course prior to Ethics though.  The IT courses prob won't do much, so I'd save those for last unless you need the credits.  Don't duplicate anything you've already taken.

Thanks, that was super helpful specific to my situation !!!
