Tesu computer science degree

Hello! After four years of working in manual labor jobs, I have decided to pursue a degree in computer science. I want the degree more to “check the box”, because I am confident in my self taught programming, but it is hard to get jobs without a degree. After researching the “big three” I landed on TESU.
So, a few questions: 
1) should I get in touch with TESU first, or take as many online credits as possible first?
2) when it comes to getting my RA credits, should I go with a local community college (super cheap but the classes are weirdly hard) or an online source?
3) how do I know which electives to take? I find the catalogue confusing
4) has anyone here used AP credit for TESU? how did it transfer? and does it count as a writing credit?
For context, I am a full time employee but am resourceful and a quick worker. I am willing to take harder math and science courses, but I would rather not take English or writing based courses from somewhere difficult.

You can enroll with TESU now since you have several courses to transfer. Take the 1 credit TECEP to become fully enrolled.

Free electives can be any class.

If you want the easiest writing course, do the CLEP exam. 

Do the RA credits via TECEP or Tel Learning would be the quickest/cheapest.

TESU is the only option of the Big 3 for a BACS degree.  Another good option is WGU.

Which foreign language exam did you take and when (different exams are worth a different number of credits at different times)?

AP World History is worth 6cr.

For RA credit, CA CC's are $46/cr, which is cheap - but not fast.  So, my advice, if you're a decent test-taker, is to go with TECEP exams; the LL ones are $50/cr, but obviously done in a single day.

TESU's catalog is awful, they changed it a couple of years ago and it sucks beyond belief now.  Here's what you need:

English Comp I & II (you can take TECEP's or CLEP College Comp w/Essay)
Oral Communication - TECEP, Sophia, or Presentation Skills by Study.com
Quant Lit: best option is College Algebra from Sophia
Diversity - Sociology (Sophia)
Ethics - Ethics (Sophia)
Civic Engagement - American Gov (CLEP or TECEP) or Comparative Politics (Study.com)
SocSci - Psych, Econ from Sophia
History - done
Humanities - done
SocSci/Hum/His electives - will be done depending on which language you took (you'll get between 9-12cr for a score of 4)
Scientific Knowledge - Biology & Enviro Science (Sophia)

Calculus (Sophia or CLEP)
1 add'l UL computer course - Network Technology TECEP or a TESU course

TESU's AP page does not tell you how AP exams transfer in - but if you tell me the language and year you took it, I will tell you how many credits they'll give (it's based on ACE recommendations).

Also, you should definitely enroll at TESU now; it's always recommended to enroll there sooner rather than later, to lock in your catalog, and be able to start sending credits and getting your eval updated regularly. There is zero downside to enrolling now, so definitely do that soon.

I mistyped originally- the test was AP English language and composition. I assume this would only replace English 1?
Thank you for the advice- I was worried about application fee but it was waived because of military status!

Basically, review the linked plan, complete all the alternative credits and TECEPs, if you're military, then you have it even better at TESU, do any 6 TECEPs (18 credits as I mentioned in this thread linked here for residency) and you just need to pay for two courses, the cornerstone/capstone and you're done: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...%80%99s-LA

For Computer Science especially, you probably don't need to go with TECEPs or a local CC. There are many Finnish university courses available that are free or low-cost for CS students. https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Fi...iversities

One of the fastest/cheapest/easiest options would be the Video Games Creation certificate from XAMK (free) + ACEI evaluation for $200.

The University of Helsinki has (IMO) more interesting/relevant courses available here: https://www.mooc.fi/en/ But, you may need a Hakka login to get credits. See the XAMK page on the wiki for instructions if this interests you. IIRC, the MOOC.fi courses are free, though some UHelsinki courses on their main site may require a fee. Also, SOME MOOC.fi courses are offered by universities that do not allow non-Finnish citizens/residents to gain credit. Check the information about obtaining credits before you begin a course.

Are you active military?  There are other benefits and discounts at TESU if you are.
