I don't know much about the program, but it reminds me of College Plus and the College Network. Excelsior has a warning on its website for the College Network. These companies aren't scams per se; I just think they are an unnecessary expense. Of course, you don't have to spend anything with Test Drive to get the free 3 credits, but it just looks like too much of a hassle to me.

It's a marketing/recruiting gimmick from a select few online colleges. Get people on the fence who are a little price shy into a class, now they are 3 credits into a program and don't want to "lose" those credits going to a school more suitable to their situation.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.
Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.
Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.
Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.
Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Companies like this are the "travel agents" of credit by exam. Sure you could book your airline ticket through JoeBlow travel (and pay a fee$) if you really want to. Nothing wrong with that. However, anyone with an 8th grade education can buy an airplane ticket without a travel agent. These companies play on your fear of making a mistake, promote how great they are and what they can DO FOR YOU. There is nothing they can do for you that you can't do for yourself for free. I've said it before, if you really want to pay someone, send your favorite charity $10 and I'll help you for free.

All it takes is a little research on the internet. I found this forum and a couple of others by using Google. I didn't even know these kinds of companies existed until after I discovered the Big 3. With me being cheap and a DIYer, they wouldn't have appealed to me anyway.

So is it unethical to follow their instructions, collect your 3 credits, and choose not to go with one of their schools?
....knowing that is the forgone conclusion.

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Totally agree. Terrible company to deal with, even after trying to get more info out of them. I told them I have no need for financial aid or desire to "attend" their partner schools and they still basically wanted me to falsely complete and apply listing one of their select schools.
Their replies:
The only way we can enroll with you in TDC is if you fill out a FAFSA. It’s a safe government website that you fill it out at, Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid.
The FAFSA confirmation page is requested as a qualification for enrollment to ensure that student are aware of what financial aid they are eligible for and to better understand the process. Financial aid is not required for Test Drive’s Free course, and you are not obligating yourself to take financial aid should you decide to transfer your course credits into a degree program at a TDC partner school.
For Test Drive College, the FAFSA process is a reference guide to assist those who are serious about attending college. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
I do understand that you are serious about attending school. Unfortunately, I can’t override any requirements for the program. Why don’t you call FAFSA at 800-433-3243 and find more out about it.
Keep in mind, the Transcripts from Test Drive College can only be uploaded if we transfer you to one of the TDC partner schools listed on the website.
I cannot override the requirement.

I suppose if you know how to play the game you could make this a bargain. Say for instance you want to get a degree from the Big 3 by mostly testing out, but you'll have to complete a course or two somewhere in order to do so. I dunno, an UL business course or science course or whatever. You could get this 1 free course through TDC and then attend one of their partner schools (only one of the the RA ones) for that 1 course you need. It could all balance out in cost and maybe save you a little money, assuming you transfer immediately to one of the Big 3 after the course is done. Eh, you'd have to be very careful though so I myself probably wouldn't do it but someone who wants to take the risk in order to save a little bit of money could probably make something out of this.

It is like getting a free night stay at a time share resort and you have to listen to them try to sell you a time share the whole time. It ends up ruining your stay. I tried TDC and started the class........they called, they emailed and harassed me, so much I just stopped doing the course. I didnt have time in my calendar to talk and email with nit wits all day. I realize all they are doing is selling your information to those partner colleges, but it just was not worth it for me. Maybe the headache could be worth it for others for the 3 credits, but I found it so irritating the way they talked to me as well. It is getting me irrated just thinking about it. They told me at one point well it sounds like you not serious about your education. As you can see from the previous reply they used some of that same verbiage as part of their sales speak.
