Tesc 2 degrees comprehensive vs pay per credit in state tuition
#1
So i've searched the board and the question has been answered regarding pay per credit vs comprehensive plan but I have some confusion about how that relates to getting two degrees. I have 98 institutional credits from a university 15 FEMA credits and 15 business credits from SL. I'm interested in Healthcare Management, Human Resource/Organizational Management or as a last resort General Management as you can transfer in everything but there is a capstone requirement (is this correct)? Or would a BSBA General Management with a certificate in Healthcare or Organizational management be the best course of action. My desire is to become a Human Resources Generalist within a Hospital or a manger within Patient Access which I am currently in.

What would be my best course of action to obtain two bachelors degrees from TESC (my academic evaluation is being processed) also would the comprehensive plan be the way to go using in state tuition I have limited funds but will take out a student loan if I absolutely have to.

You ask a lot of very good questions.

If you want to least expensive route you can take 8 TECEPS and fulfill the residency requirement as an enrolled options student. There are a lot of TECEPS that will work towards a BSBA. However, based upon forum feedback, TECEPS are a bit more difficult than CLEPs and DSSTs.

Unless you are planning on enrolling in a lot of courses at TESC I would instead suggest you earn most of your credits by testing out where possible, as well as taking the inexpensive courses at PennFoster and Straighterline. Make sure the Penn Foster courses you are interested in taking are ACE approved.

Under the enrolled options plan you pay a little over $3000 to be enrolled for a year, during which time you can earn two degrees for a small graduation cost. However, remember it takes about three and a half months from the application for graduation deadline before your degree is conferred. You can not start any aspect of your second degree until your first one has been conferred.

Most people try to earn as many credits vial other sources prior to "enrolling" at TESC, to get the most "year" out of their money. If you have not already, I'd suggest you pay $75 apply to TESC and have your credits evaluated. You can then use their degree tool to see what courses are remaining to complete different degrees. You can then see what courses you can test out of, and how many you may need to take at TESC or transfer in from another college.

I would not recommend the comprehensive plan unless you are planning on taking quite a lot of classes through TESC in a single year.

As far as FEMA credits are concerned, TESC officially no longer accepts them, however some people say they have still been submitting the transcripts and receiving credit. So I'd suggest you submit them and see what happens. I believe Charter Oak State College still accepts FEMA credits. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

My area of experience is in BSBA GM. however if I look at Human Resource/OM all the core business requirements are the same. You could feasibly test out of at least 27 of the 54 required credits and take a few others via Penn Foster and Straighterline. Test out credit is about $110 per course vs $770 (out of state enrolled student option) as an online course at TESC. IF you decide on BSBA GM you have even more test out options.

Hope this helps clarify some options. There is a lot of great information on this forum so keep searching and asking questions.
