I took the Civil War Reconstruction exam this morning.
PASSED WITH A 68 !
Used IC, went thru it 3 times.
Found the entire Ken Burns series on line, watched all 9 episodes. This really help me pass the test, worth the 10 hours watching it. Also very entertaining.

Also a very good thread on this site: http://www.degreeforum.net/specific-exam...-dsst.html
FYI, I only used IC and the Ken Burns series, 30 hours total time.
Met my 2nd depth requirement with this one.
2 more test to go, then on to the Capstone.

Congratulations!!!
by the way, how IMPORTANT are dates to recall, i am using IC and they have dates like november 1861, September 1861, etc, etc.... all those little dates could get hairy.
this is my next exam.

Don't worry about the specific month / year for battles and events, as I had no questions on when a battle or event happened. You will need to know the timeline / sequence of battles and events and who were the Generals or Politicians and related outcomes. Also know if the battles were West or East theater, this will help you keep track of the sequence.
I did find this site: DANTES Prep
where you can sign up and take 3 practice / study test for the DSST Civil war exam for free, they do require you to sign up and have served, or relative served in the Military.
The practice tests were very hepful.
Know the politics, parties, motivations and outcomes, lots of questions in this area.
As you go thru each IC section, watch the related Ken Burns video for that year, it really helps bring it all together.
Hope this helps and good luck !

i took this clep two days ago passed with a 50 but i technically didnt study , all i did was watch this documentary ,Ken Burns Civil War Documentary: The Civil War - 01 The Cause - War on DocuWatch - free streaming war documentaries. OR on Netflix
someone else on this site hinted me to it and it helped tons . i figured if i watched this and took notes i would have done a lot better , as far as ic goes i looked at it for about two hours. focus on generals and battles also the election of 1864 ,also about events leading to the war. the dates arent really important.
