I did have paper with me while studying with Aleks, but used it mostly for working out problems. I did, however, write down formulas and such to remember, but yes, this is pretty much a computer, computer, computer program!
Just to let you know, I took really long with both Intro. to Statistics, and Precal with Aleks, and wish (especially for Precal) that I had just studied for the CLEP!
Just how long did you take for Aleks? Two months, Three? Four? Longer? I mean, at 20 bucks per month, who cares how long it takes? Right?

There must have been a vacation or something between tests, because the gap between the test before and Precal is about 6 Months on my order and timing sheet, so I guess it probably took between 4 to 4 1/2 Months ( =( ), and Intro. to Statisitics took a month and 2 weeks.

I guess that all depends on your work schedule and how much time and effort you put into it right? What do you say? 2 hours per day? 1 hour? 3? How many hours you do in a day?

Figured out that my sheet was mixed up; the gap between tests is about 4 months.

I put in as much as I could stand of computer work each day, I'm sad to say, so I usually did anywhere from 4-6 hrs of Aleks a day. I know it sounds terrible, but the way Aleks works, if you don't study too much one day, it'll give you back the stuff you forgot and a whole bunch you already knew with it, if you get but ONE question wrong on an assessment test.
So my best advise is to work up to your grueling point, each day, but do take breaks every 1/2 hour or so, to keep alive :/

Made me think of this thread
BA in Natural Sciences/Mathematics, 2013 - TESC - Arnold Fletcher Award
AAS in Applied Computer Studies, 2013 - TESC 116 B&M Credits 32 FEMA Credits 9 ALEKS Credits - Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry 9 Straighterline Credits - Business Communication, Microeconomics, English Composition II 6 TESC Credits - Global Environmental Change 3 DSST Credits - Environment and Humanity
I used to say "I hate ALEKS", but now I actually in strong like of it. I am not head over heels for it, because sometimes it can get so stubborn like a woman on her cycle. I started with college algrebra, it took me a whole weekend, litterally getting 4 hours of sleep each day. I got to 58% on that first 3 days. I read carefully the explanation and took notes, and requested assessment repeatedly. I took me a whole month from that weekend to finish the remaining 12%. The same thing happened to Intro to Statistics. I took breaks specially when I started dreaming about formula. It took me a 12 hours to finish with intermediate algrebra, and a couple of hours to finish with business statistics and statistics for behavioral sciences. Mathway is great for algrebra, Excel is A AWESOME for statistic. Right now I am stuck in Precal. I have since last month, but I was on travel for 3 weeks. I am at 53%. I am currently working on it as we speak. Planning on completing by the weekend so I don't have to be pay for another month.
And by the way, do yourself a favor use 2 monitors; Get acrobat pdf writer or cutepdf; and make your folder searchable/index with Google Desktop. |
