TESU vs WGU - Any Advice? And Also, Opinions on Ashworth?
#11
rowan555 Wrote:Interesting! Is this available only for certain courses or for any courses in the program? Also, is there a minimum amount of time for completing a semester and moving on to the next semester? My older son moves pretty quickly - he's thinking about doing his AS at Ashworth then transferring to WGU in the spring - but he'd most likely not want to spend more than 2 months or so on that endeavor...

You can finish the semester as quick as you want. There is a proctored exam at the end of each semester that is cumulative but not terribly tough. A handful of multiple choice questions for each course that semester. You may challenge any course that is offered by the degree.

I'm not sure if WGU will accept credits from Ashworth. Ashworth is nationally accredited (DEAC) and not regionally accredited. Most regionally accredited schools accept few if any nationally accredited credits. I would check with WGU prior to taking these classes if that is the plan. If you do go with Ashworth just keep in mind their may be limitations on what can be done with a nationally accredited degree.

With that being said, it sounds like a neat program!

They mail the physical test to someone you can nominate. I nominated my neighbor who works at the library.

WGUtakes AS/AA from accredited colleges as a block transfer and they have an articulation agreement with Asworth.

Yes, this is why he's considering it - if he does that, he can clear Statistics, the second science course, Org Behavior, and Logic from his WGU list - if he skips the AS he'll have to take those courses in addition to the 10 others he will still not have taken. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but that's the way it works, so it will make things easier/more streamlined for him.

They have an AA in general studies. He can choose his own courses for that one.

Another good thing about Ashworth is that they accepted all of the ALEKS courses (24 cr) and applied towards my electives including 2 UL slots
