TESU- transcripts being evaluated for BS business
#1
Hello to everyone. Thank you for sharing your insights here, they have really helped.

I recently applied to TESU, and sent off transcripts. So far my University xscript has been received and evaluated (50 hrs transferred), still waiting for xscript evaluations for my Junior Co (25-30 hrs?) and Community Co (12-15 hrs?). When I applied with TESU it was for BSBA Accounting. Really, I think it's unlikely I will go for that.

As far as General Education requirements, what will probably be lacking is Tech Writing, Ethics, and Statistics. I did complete an Economic Measurement & Analysis course at Uni that met my stats requirement there, but TESU has classified it as a general elective. I'll ask that they recognize it as fulfilling the stats requirement, but if they don't it's no biggie. I will do Ethics through Saylor. Stats through Saylor. The tech writing requirement maybe I will do DSST. DSST costs are about $100, right?

I will probably stick with a BS in one of the business fields, so it looks like for Core requirements I'm lacking Finance, Management, Marketing, Society, Communications, and Strategic Management. I can knock out 3 of those via Saylor. The other 3 I can maybe do DSST or TECEP.

For those final Field of Study requirements, I have little or nothing. I did complete a couple of upper-level political science courses at Uni. I have a Lit course from Community College. Also, I completed some basic science and IT courses at Junior College (where I earned an AABA). I bring these up because I'd obviously prefer they fill a meaningful spot in my degree plan, versus just going to general electives or nothing at all.

I would like to earn a bachelor's degree, before the end of this year. BS or BA does not matter to me. Field of study could be business-related, social sciences, general.... really any number of things. I do not want to attend classes, as I will not be based in the USA (moving this summer). I have completed many classes online. The first couple were kind of rough, but I eventually learned how to get in the right mindset and focus, and the last several classes were fun and I aced them.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. If you have any thoughts please share. Once all my transcripts have been evaluated I will post specifics. I've looked into SL & Study.com and may use them. In the meantime I have signed up for some Saylor courses and will begin those tonight.

Welcome! That's a pretty good plan you have there already, yes... I would highly recommend those 3 places for earning credits.
Saylor for the cost, Straighterline for the speed, and Study.com for a mix of both... Have you read the Beginners Guide or Wiki?
Wait for the evaluation, but you may want to get a spreadsheet going and plug in what has been done & needs to be completed.

Have you completed "the newbie spreadsheet" for the BSBA in GEN Management? If not, you can post your earned courses here and see what you have already completed that would fulfill that degree program. So far, it is probably the simplest to get through completely online.

As you've seen, once you have that blueprint, it's just a matter of determining which courses you take in order of ease, cost, or relation to similar subject matter or course provider.

So much good info on here - so much invaluable advice. You'll do great and finish in no-time.

Congrats on your mission!

Thanks, BJ. I do believe I checked out the Guide and Wiki but will look again.

My initial evaluation was posted today, and I set up a spreadsheet. That was kind of exciting. It looks really good at the top, not so much at the bottom : )

Once everything comes in I can look at options and decide what I even want to major in!

OK, I did check out the Guide and Wiki a little while back, but didn't go through many of the links. Now I see there is a lot more to review. BJ, Excellent stuff!

MD, the General Management option looks pretty good. I ordered my transcripts at the same time. The Uni one has been received and evaluated. The other two have not been logged as received yet. TESU did the current eval much quicker than I'd expected, so that was nice. Hopefully the other 2 are done soon, then I will set up some spreadsheets. In the meantime I am going to get after my Saylor ethics and management courses, and at least print out docs on the others.

While you still have time left (and only if you need to) knock out any ALEKS math you may need, THE INSTITUTES ethics...all the free stuff. Then go by order of ease, like the 6 credit A&I (again, only if you need to ).

MD, looks like I may end up with a plan similar to yours. Right now it looks like I might be able to do 5 or 6 Saylor classes, a couple of DSST's, a TECEP, the Capstone, and possibly the rest through Study.com

What is the 6-credit A&I ?
