TESU residency waiver
#11
(09-09-2023, 07:42 PM)bjcheung77 Wrote: Yes, it's just the two courses from TESU you do last, together, the cornerstone/capstone on the final term.

Why take them together if you're not going for a flat-rate term to avoid the residency waiver? I would recommend taking them in consecutive terms, or at least staggering them to make it easier. Or for the BACS specifically, Information Literacy can be transferred from edX, and you can just take the capstone at TESU.

It really depends, if I recall correctly, OP has retired and may have extra time on their hands. If that is the case it would be a feasible option, if not they can just take it one term at a time. Personal preference is what that is, if I have more time on my hands, I wouldn't mind taking it together to get the degree done faster and work on something else... Again, they can decide which option is for them, if they have other commitments, etc, then do take one at a time...

That's a good point, although if you have enough time to do both courses at the same time, definitely consider throwing in three easier epacks to avoid the waiver.

True, assuming OP actually has CC credits?

OP specifically stated they had some CC credits, just didn't mention how many.

OP asked about transferring CC credits, which could imply that they have some, but given this post, which doesn't mention any CC credits, I didn't want to assume:

Again, you should really give us the 'full picture', please create a PDF or screenshot of your evaluation so we know what's already completed and missing, we'll provide feedback on how to complete the remaining credits, I just updated one of your threads here asking the same thing: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid402758

The JST does not normally show RA credits - it's ACE only (I've seen lots and NONE had RA credits).  If you're in the AF, and taking courses at the CCAF, you won't have a JST from them, you'll have a CCAF transcript.  Totally separate things.

I only have 4 CC credits. All the rest are Army JST, DSST, and SDC. I've figured out that I'll need 12 credits at TESU. No way around it. The residency waiver will would take care of the residency requirements, but I still have to meet the RA requirements. So, I might as well get them by taking the courses at TESU and not have to pay the waiver fee. No way I know of getting RA credits except at a college, doesn't make sense to me to go to another CC to get them. The TESU online courses would probably be easier anyway.

I was just trying to finish the degree with SDC. I understand that used to be possible at TESU before they changed the residency rules or the RA rules. Oh well, 4 courses is not that bad.

Thanks for the info.

@dbrown2258 - Are you working toward a TESU associate degree or bachelor? This is not the first post you have made that references the associate level RA requirements vs the bachelor. Are you in the US? If you are in the US and your goal is only an associate, then a Pierpont BOG AAS would likely be a better option; most certainly more cost effective.
