Good evening!
I have lurked for a while, done a fair amount of digging/reading, and have finally decided I think I want to try this. I'm at a point in my life where there really isn't a good time but now is as good as any.
So, I ask for all of your collective help with a degree plan.
I'm hoping that between what I've done, and what everyone here knows, I'll get a lot of good feedback, recommendations, and advice.
All of my previous credit is over 10 years old but it is all with a grade of C or higher.
My employer does not offer tuition reimbursement, tuition assistance or any other related benefits.
Information Worksheet/Credit info on Google Docs: Information Worksheet
This should be editable so that you can add notes, etc. I want to make this as easy as possible for you to help. Feel free to add new tabs, etc. if you like.
Included in this is kind of how I laid out the degree plan and where to go. Also, there's a tab with my previous coursework with details.
The things I'd like to have out of all of this:
1. I know I can't have fast, cheap, and easy (usually) -- so I'll settle for fast and cheap. I don't mind working hard and studying. I don't have to do this at a lightning pace but I'd like it to be over sooner than later.
2. I'd like to keep all of alternative credit avenues (DSST, SL, SDC, etc.) to as few as possible (but with keeping fast/cheap at the forefront).
3. I'd like to initially consider the BBA in HR from COSC because it seemed most logical to me out of the choices available but I'm open to suggestions that would better utilize my already earned credits (if they're still usable), the little money that I do have, and my time. My background is in management and HR but if I end up with a sociology degree, that's fine, too. At this point, having a degree in general is most important. With this being said, I would prefer to have a degree in something rather than General Studies or Liberal Arts.
4. I'd kind of like to be able to do one or two courses at a time (max), and knock them out before moving on. I am going to be working full-time during this, too.
5. I also need some direction -- when everything's all laid out -- about how to approach this. I don't want to screw it up since it's all a little overwhelming.
6. Eventually, a degree.
I tried to think of everything you guys might ask me. I hope I haven't forgotten anything but if you need any information that I haven't provided, just ask!
Thanks!
