It's a lot cheaper to take CC courses and boost your grade, or take UExcel exams to boost it. TESU courses are $1560 each!

if he transfers them back, his TESC GPA won't move. I think the underlying question is if you're planning to boost your GPA for grad school? If so, how many credits do you have and what is your TESC GPA now?

I took Database management and System analysis and design at TESC... Got a 99 in both of them.

Just make sure you turn in all your work on time and I'm sure you will do good in the course. Possibly look for courses without proctored finals, just projects for the finals. Database management was the easier of the two but both graded more then fairly. If you want I can get you instructor names too.

Hi,

I need to take about 3 classes, to boost my GPA with TESU. The problem is that I transferred in some a bunch of C's and one D and that's effecting my GPA. My current GPA with TESU is 3.7
my adviser told me about SOS-110 Living in the Information Age he stated that its considered an EASY class to take.

your advisor is confused, or new, or something. Transfer classes do not ever make up your TESU grade point average. "Only grades earned at the University will be considered in the calculation of the official Thomas Edison State University GPA. Transfer grades will not be used in calculating the official Thomas Edison State University GPA."

Policy on Grading

Your TESU grade point average is made up 100% of your courses you take at TESU. In other news, I took SOS110, yes it was an easy class.

Still, there is a big question you're not answering- are you boosting your GPA for grad school admissions? I ask because that's calculated differently. Also, how many credits do you have? Taking 3 classes only moves the needle when you've taken fewer than about 30 credits. If you're nearing completion, 3 perfect scores *maybe puts you at 3.8 - so like dfrecore said, that's EXPENSIVE and probably a huge waste of time, energy, and cash.

its to eventually go to grad school, the school I'm looking at only needs a 2.5. I want to be above that. I have about 4 classes that are not showing up on my transcript because they will bring my GPA below a 2.0 that's why I need to take some classes to boost my GPA

If you're trying to bring up your overall GPA, then like someone has already said, it may take more than a couple classes - the more credits you have, the less any individual class moves the needle. And I would echo what others have said about TESU being an expensive place to take classes - unless you have someone else paying for you, I'd recommend taking classes somewhere else and transferring them to TESU. BYU, Univ. of Idaho, and CSU-Pueblo have reasonably priced independent study programs (they charge about the same per *class* that TESU charges per credit). There are a number of inexpensive online community colleges, and you might look into offerings in your local area because they might be even more reasonable.

for what it's worth, this March i've registered to take ENG-298 ("Jane Austen: Pride and Prejudice"), it's a 1-credit class. i currently have a 1.8 TESU GPA, and will need to get it to at least 2.0 to be eligible for graduation... it looks like the 1-credit class *should* be enough, by my math.
