TESU Says Son Can't Enroll & Pay Residency Waiver?!

My son applied to TESU in January, but didn’t submit any Study.com transcripts at the time. He went to enroll today, but they said he can’t pay the residency waiver fee until he’s ready to graduate within a year (which he plans to), and that means he’ll miss the current $1,800 Study.com reduced rate. 

To my understanding, you could enroll and pay that fee at the same time, so I’m very confused and upset that we’ll miss the current discount.

Does anyone have light they can shed on this situation, or did I just completely misunderstand how the process works????

I think you waited too long to do this. You would have needed to submit at least 1 Study.com transcript, get the affiliate membership applied to his account, and then you could have paid the RW today. You should have done all of this at least 2-3 weeks ago.

But honestly, I wouldn't have paid this at this point, if it were up to me. Yes, you miss the discount - but without upwards of 110cr sitting on his eval (so you know exactly where everything is), I wouldn't take the chance that life could happen, and he wouldn't graduate, and he'd actually have to pay the RW again in the future! No thanks.

I don't think this is a huge deal, and wouldn't spend a single minute worrying about it. Instead, focus on getting his courses completed and his eval updated, so he can be ready to take the capstone.

Thanks for your thoughts!  In this case, it was simply I didn't know what I didn't know....  But, you're absolutely right, paying the RW twice would NOT be a good thing.  :-)  

We've now requested his Study.com credits be transferred and then we'll input his CLEPs, etc. and see how good a job I did at placing things, LOL!

He applied in January, and he'll be ready to enroll and take his first TECEP in a couple months, so we'll know by then how all his classes were evaluated and placed. 

After seeing how expensive the credits would be, even with the current Study.com discount, we're going to make sure we exhaust all of our options for other ways to earn credit!  So I guess we'll just wait until he's almost finished to actually pay the (hopefully still reduced) RW fee.
